Day 1 & 2: Start in Seoul

South Korea’s capital is one of the most advanced and innovative places on the planet. Seoul may be the heart of modernity, but you’ll still find historic gems that give you a glimpse into its past.

Changdeokgung Palace and Secret Garden is an exquisitely adorned site surrounded by beautiful, tranquil gardens. There are also plenty of temples to explore.

Other things to do in Seoul include shopping in the Myeong-dong district. While you’re there, don’t forget to try Korea’s national dish, kimchi.

Day 3 & 4: Gyeonggi-do

Travel out of Seoul to the province of Gyeonggi-do. There’s so much to see and do in this breathtaking region.

Namhansanseong Mountain Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with picturesque hiking trails and stunning views. Plus, make a stop at the modern-day demilitarised zone (DMZ), where North and South Korea meet.

Spend some time in the capital of Gyeonggi Province – Suwon – where there’s lots of things to do. Make your way to Hwaseong Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site protecting the old town, and try out Joseon-style archery. Then step back in time and embrace native culture with a visit to the Korean Folk Village.

After experiencing the country’s history, stop by the Samsung Innovation Museum and see how Korea is leading the way in modern technology. Or catch a football match at Suwon World Cup Stadium, known locally as ‘Big Bird’.

Take the high-speed train to Busan – South Korea’s second-largest city and a charming destination that’s perfect for families to spend time together. One of the many things to do in Busan is wander along the south coast.

Take a couple of days to relax on Gwangalli Beach or head to the famous Haeundae Beach for water sports. You can also  meander through the tranquil Beomeosa Temples, nestled in the mountains above the city. And for shoppers, there are plenty of markets and department stores to browse.

Just a quick domestic flight away is Jeju Island – known as the ‘Hawaii of Korea’ because of its volcanic landscapes, gorgeous beaches and natural wonders. It’s the ideal spot to end your tour of South Korea and for anyone who loves the great outdoors. Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) tops the list of places to see.
