Warsaw Chopin Airport is Poland’s largest air transport hub and one of the most important international arrival and departure points in Eastern Europe. This modern, efficient airport has undergone considerable renovation and now ranks as one of the busiest in Europe, with over 300 scheduled daily flights to destinations around the world.

The capital of New South Wales is a relaxed and welcoming gateway to your Down Under adventure. A sunny climate and a lively atmosphere await you in Sydney, as do a host of activities to suit every taste, whether you are travelling solo or in company.

From arrival to departure, you will have an itinerary packed with entertainment, arts, culture and sporting activities and events. Book a flight with Qatar Airways to Sydney, and find out why it is one of the world’s most beloved cities.

Flying from Warsaw

Poland’s capital is well served by the modern and very busy Warsaw Chopin Airport. The airport was also previously known as Warsaw-Okecie Airport, and many taxi drivers will still refer to it as “Okecie” today.

The airport is one of Europe’s major air transport hubs, with over 300 flights daily to destinations all over the world. The friendly and efficient staff are passenger-focused, while facilities are excellent. Passengers flying from Warsaw with Qatar Airways will find this to be a pleasant location from which to begin their journey.

Transportation and parking

Buses provide the main public transport link to the airport, running between central Warsaw, including Warsaw Central Station and the Old Town.

Long-distance buses connect to other locations in Poland. Taxis are plentiful and can be pre-booked by your hotel concierge, and it is advisable to only use licensed taxis rather than hailing a cab at the side of the road. Journey time is approximately 30 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions. Parking at the airport is good, with four car parks offering both long and short-term parking at a very reasonable rate.

Arriving in Warsaw

Passengers flying from Warsaw with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal (Terminal A).

The terminal is divided up into five areas (A, B, C, D, and E) so it is important to check on arrival where your flight is departing from by consulting the flight information boards. Security is very tight, so allow at least an hour and a half to two hours before your flight is due to depart to check in and go through all security and customs checks.

Facilities and amenities

Free wireless internet access of up to 30 minutes is available in the main terminal, while passengers using the VIP and Executive lounges can access the internet for free for up to four hours. There are three Executive lounges for first and business class passengers. The food court provides an excellent selection of local Polish dishes, coffee and pastries as well as more substantial restaurant meals.

Retail outlets include Duty Free, souvenir vendors, accessories and luxury goods. Mother and baby changing rooms are available, and the airport is wheelchair friendly with specially trained personnel happy to help less physically able travellers on request.

Arriving in Sydney

Despite what most people think, Sydney is not actually Australia’s capital, but is probably its most iconic and instantly recognisable one, thanks to exceptional monuments such as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Modern, thriving and continually expanding, Sydney is the powerhouse of Australia and one of the most vibrant cities on the Pacific Rim.

Book a flight to Sydney with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover that it’s also a centre for the arts, music and theatre, with an incredibly relaxed and laid-back atmosphere for such a large metropolis.

Warm and friendly people welcome visitors with open arms, and its business sector is innovative and progressive, making it an excellent destination for business travellers too.

Tourist attractions

Top of the list has to be the Sydney Opera House. It sits on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It is in fact a collection of venues that host 1,500 performances every year, attracting over a million visitors from around the world. From opera to modern dance, theatre to mime, this is the cultural heart of the city.

Many of the city’s landmarks are clustered around the harbour, and an excellent and very relaxing way to see them is to take a ferry east from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo or Manly, or west under the Harbour Bridge towards Parramatta.

This will also give you a great view of the harbour itself.

The city is famous for its museums, and visitors can choose from the Australian Museum, which has extensive exhibits covering Australia’s unique flora and fauna, through to the interactive Powerhouse Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

To find out more about Australia’s First Nation people, head to the Royal National Park where you’ll find Aboriginal rock carvings, or take a guided interpretative walk at Berry Island.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Sydney with Qatar Airways land at Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.

Before you fly to Sydney please check the visa and passport requirements.
