Portugal’s vibrant heart

Lisbon is one of the best tourist destinations in Portugal, famous for its shopping and fine dining. After admiring the architecture and cobbled streets, experience its vibrant nightlife or the tranquil ambience at Jerónimos Monastery. Other places to visit in Lisbon include the Belém Tower and the Alfama district, full of historic houses and Fado music.

Top tip: Shop for hand-painted ceramics and crafts in the markets and stalls, and dine on fresh seafood in the harbor-side restaurants.

Roam around Porto

Porto is known for its beautiful riverfront and classical architecture. You can also tour historic districts such as Ribeira, with its picturesque alleyways and squares. Wondering which other places to visit in Porto? Discover the Palácio da Bolsa, once the commercial heart of Portugal and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. For a different view of the city, take a boat tour along the Douro River.

Top tip: Sunset tours are breath-taking, with the sunrays turning the buildings bright gold.

Sintra, the storybook city

Sintra is surrounded by lush nature and features a multi-coloured palace dominating the skyline. Wander through the serene forests and discover breathtaking castles and monasteries, as well as waterfalls and winding paths.

Sintra is a little off the beaten track, so it’s less crowded and more relaxed. Don’t leave without indulging in tasty treats like fofos de belas – light cakes with a rich custard filling.

Top tip: Try the delectable travesseiros: pastries filled with egg custard and almonds.
