Transportation and parking
The airport is well served by rail, bus and taxi options, and getting from the city centre to the airport is quick and easy. The Maglev Train is the fastest magnetic levitation train in the world, and connects the airport with metro line 2 at Longyang Station, taking just 8 minutes from point to point. Trains run every 15 minutes from 7am to 9pm.
The station is situated next to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a bridge. Airport bus 1 connects the airport with Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, while other routes run every few minutes to various locations in Shanghai including the Galaxy Hotel and Shanghai South railway station.
Taxis are plentiful but as many drivers only speak Chinese it is best to ask your hotel concierge to book a taxi on your behalf.
Parking consists of a three-floor multi-storey car park with space for over 3,000 vehicles, and a surface car park for short and long-term parking in front of the terminal buildings.
Arriving in Shanghai
Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 2. Check in and security checks are rapid, but it is still wise to allow between one to two hours before your flight is due to board to clear the strict security and customs checks.
It is vital that all paperwork is in order as any issues could delay you considerably.
Facilities and amenities
Facilities are modern, with plenty of retail and food and drink vendors providing an excellent selection of goods and snacks. Food and retail outlets are primarily on the third floor of the terminal.
