Tourist attractions
The city is split into two, the Upper Town (Gornji grad) and the Lower Town (Donji grad). Here you’ll find most of the attractions, restaurants and entertainment, with the Upper Town offering glimpses of the best preserved medieval aspects of the city. The focus of the Upper Town has to be the cathedral, which is a stunning piece of architecture and the epicentre of the city. The original 13th century structure was destroyed in an earthquake, and in the 19th century the entire building was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style. Today it is one of the biggest attractions in the city.
