Transportation and parking
The airport is located just over three miles from the centre of the business district, so it’s incredibly convenient for business travellers flying out of the country onto other international destinations.
The easiest way to get to the airport from the main city of Kigali is by taxi. Official metered taxis can be booked through your hotel reception or concierge service. It is advisable pre-book in advance and agree the fare before you start your journey.
Parking at the airport is very limited, so it is best to make alternative parking arrangements away from the airport, and then reach the airport via taxi.
At the airport
Passengers flying from Kigali with Qatar Airways depart from the main passenger terminal Departures area. There are eight check-in desks and three gates, so although numbers are low at the airport it can get a little congested during peak travel times. Security is also very tight, so allow around an hour and a half to two hours to check-in and clear security checks.

Despite its small size, the airport’s facilities are quite good and varied. There are plenty of vendors selling snacks and beverages, as well as several restaurants serving more substantial meals that combine local dishes and international cuisine.
Retail outlets include duty free shops, gift shops selling souvenirs and trinkets, and a chemist. Other shops provide travel essentials, books and magazines. A VIP lounge offers First and Business Class travellers a calm and comfortable waiting area, and the airport also has several ATMs and a Bureau de Change.
