Head to Almaty for some of the best food around. If the architecture gives you an idea of the country’s heritage, the food literally puts it on a plate for you. Dishes such as beshbarmak, nan-salma, and palau showcase influences from Asia, eastern Europe, and Turkey. Expect lots of fragrant spices, meats, and vegetables, used to create meals as diverse as the country itself.
