The definition of luxury travel is an experience that focuses on the passenger, from the moment you check in to the moment you land. You get all this and more when you book a flight from Paris to     with Qatar Airways. Friendly, attentive cabin crew ensure you have everything you need for a comfortable, relaxed flight, from award-winning cuisine to in-flight entertainment, while our state-of-the-art aircraft transport you to this exotic destination in style, thanks to spacious cabins and roomy, comfortable seats. Arrive in Yangon in style, ready to discover everything it has to offer the adventurous visitor.

After decades of isolation, Yangon (formerly Rangoon), the largest city in Myanmar, is finally coming into its own as Southeast Asia’s unspoiled wonder. A trip to Yangon feels like stepping back in time, with British colonial buildings scattered throughout the city, most dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. Book a flight to Yangon with Qatar Airways and revel in its golden pagodas and ancient temples and unique character.

A few lofty, glass-and-steel structures have also started to spring up in Yangon, as Myanmar (also known as Burma) gradually embraces modernity. The city is a heady mix of Chinese, Thai, British and Indian influences, which have all left their mark on its amazingly varied architecture. From Mongol invaders to modern high-rise office blocks, Yangon is a city of contrasts.

Flying from Paris

Just 14 miles northeast of Paris is Charles de Gaulle International Airport, France’s largest air hub and one of the most important international travel points in Europe. In 2015 it was awarded the Skytrax award for the World’s most improved airport, and its airport shopping facilities and services are rated in the top five and top 10 in the world respectively.

Combined with outstanding transportation connecting it to the French capital and excellent levels of services, Charles de Gaulle International Airport is among the best in the world.

Transportation and parking

Transport to and from the airport is excellent, with a network of trains, buses, and underground services connecting the airport to the capital. The SNCF main line station at Paris CDG is called Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 2 TGV and is located between terminals 2C-2D and 2E-2F. The airport is also linked by the RER B service to Paris and the suburbs.

This service runs to and from Aeroport Charles de Gaulle 1, which is closest to Terminals 1 and 3. A fleet of taxis is available around the clock, and limousines are also available for pre-booking. Passengers flying from Paris with Qatar Airways should park in the car parks closest to Terminal 2. Long-stay parking is located opposite Terminals 1 and 3.

Arriving at Charles de Gaulle International Airport

Passengers flying from Paris with Qatar Airways will depart from Terminal 1. An on-line check in service is available. Escalators will take you up to the departure area.

Major functions such as check in and baggage claim are located in the centre of the terminal, with departure gates distributed around the outer ring.

Facilities and amenities

Departing guests can find different facilities in Terminal T1,  including a selection of retail outlets selling high-end luxury goods.

Changing areas and rest areas are dotted throughout the terminal, and this being Paris there is an excellent selection of food and drink outlets selling everything from coffee and croissants through to full a la carte menu meals.

Arriving in Yangon

Formerly known as Rangoon, this bustling, busy city was the capital of Myanmar until it was superseded by Naypyidaw in 2005. Today, it has a population of more than five million, and is the principle economic and financial city in the country. It is also becoming popular with travellers looking for a destination that’s a little off the beaten track, and those willing to travel to Yangon will discover a city that has a fascinating juxtaposition between ancient and modern.

Book a flight to Yangon with Qatar Airways and you’ll arrive in style in a city that welcomes visitors with open arms. From ancient temples to modern business, this is a city built on a foundation of tradition that has its sights firmly set on the future.

Tourist attractions

The Shwedagon Pagoda or Paya is the most important building in the country and a huge draw for tourists who want to learn more about the culture and traditions of Mayanmar. History records a pagoda at the site since the 6th Century, although as the site has been restored and rebuilt many times the current incarnation is no more than a couple of hundred years old. Its gilded spires are a dazzling sight, especially when they are lit up by multi-coloured lights at night. A must see on any trip to Myanmar.

Although it is currently a traffic island in the middle of the busiest intersection of the city, the Sule Paya (Sule Pagoda) is an incredibly important monument and a chance to escape the noise outside. Sule Paya is a 46m octagonal-shaped stupa that, according to legend, was built 2000 years ago to house a strand of Buddha's hair.

Yangon has plenty of open spaces, and one of the parks is the Mahabandoola Garden, which is best known for its fabulous display of roses that scents the air in the spring and summer.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Yangon with Qatar Airways land at Yangon International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Yangon please check the visa and passport requirements.
