Book flights to Nice

Nice’s deep blue coastal waters, diverse shopping opportunities and legendary dining establishments are justly renowned, so make sure some of these hotspots are on your must-see list when travel to Nice.The sweeping Promenade des Anglais epitomises the city’s charm, and has become an iconic spot on the French Riviera.

It is lined with upmarket restaurants and is always bustling. The Cours Saleya Flower Market is another of the city’s big attractions, speckled with chic cafés, souvenir shops, and bursting with brilliant colours of the blooms on sale.

The artist Henri Matisse was inspired by the city’s rich palette of colours, and the Matisse Museum houses many of his most famous works. The Old Town of Nice is a short walk from the museum, with its narrow and atmospheric alleyways packed with small shops selling everything from household items to gourmet gifts and trendy clothing.

Don’t miss Le Chateau for its great views across the sea and city, or the Russian Cathedral with its spectacular “onion” towers.

You should certainly pay a visit to the Roman ruins and Nice Archaeology Museum for a little insight into the city’s heritage. The bath houses and amphitheatre are particularly impressive.

Nice Port is always a great spot for relaxing with a coffee and cake while watching the ferries depart for Corsica. You’ll find the port just around the corner from the Quai des Etats Unis and Old Nice.

Nice is a cosmopolitan city and you can find just about every variety of dining experience here. From fusion to brasserie and high haute cuisine to on-trend molecular, it’s all at your fingertips in numerous small eateries and top-end restaurants.

Nice also has its own speciality dishes, peculiar to the Cote d’Azur, such as petits farcis, which is stuffed vegetables, and poutine, a dish of tiny fried fish served in an omelette and served with salad or fritters.

If you’re travelling to Nice for shopping, the city’s main hub of activity is the Rue de France Pedestrian Zone, or ‘zone pietonne’, where you’ll find the best selection of souvenirs. This area is also home to a variety of street entertainers who will keep you amused while you browse leisurely through the stalls.

If you’re after antiques, head for the Rue Catherine Segurane, which attracts discerning trinket-hunters from across Europe. You’ll find many great bargains here, as long as you are prepared to haggle. The Old Town is also packed with a colourful range of rustic and trendy shops, as well as boutique outlets. It’s a wonderful place to stroll and shop in the balmy afternoons.

Top fashion items can be found along the exclusive Carre d’Or, Rue Paradis and Avenue de Suede.If you have a sweet tooth, then cakes, chocolates and other delights can be found on the Rue Francois de Paule, where some of the outlets have been producing confectionary since 1820.
