If you’re travelling to Denver with food in mind, then you’ve made an excellent choice. The city is packed with restaurants and diners, serving sumptuous dishes from virtually every corner of the globe. You’ll find food from Asia, Brazil, Mexico, Vietnam, Italy – and virtually anywhere else you can think of. 

However, for a true taste of Colorado cuisine, look out for restaurants serving delicious chilli con carne, fajitas and tostadas. Typical Colorado cuisine is a fusion of old American, Mexican and Spanish foods, giving rise to dishes that use a lot of chillies, chicken and various beans and pulses.

However, if you’re feeling adventurous, there are still restaurants that serve rattlesnake fillet – usually served with a smoked-chilli jelly and black-eyed beans.

Your trip to Denver will probably take you through a few of the city’s neighbourhoods, each with their own character. As a result of the way Denver is divided up, there is different shopping to be had in each district.

16th Street is where you’ll find most of the chain stores, while the Cherry Creek Shopping District plays home to the high-end shops. Larimer Square is a popular shopping district and far more eclectic than most, where you’ll find everything from clothing to furniture.
