Flying from Addis Ababa
Bole International Airport serves the country of Ethiopia, providing a busy and modern international air hub that connects with destinations around the world. Formerly known (and still referred to by some taxi drivers) as Haile Selassie I International Airport, its recent regeneration has increased its capacity for both cargo and passenger flights.
The expansion of the runway has enabled this airport to cater to larger aircrafts such as Airbus 380s, and modernisation inside the terminal ensures a memorable and smooth customer experience for those flying from Addis Ababa with Qatar Airways. The airport is efficient and clean, and customers are well catered for with modern amenities and an attentive level of service from friendly, welcoming staff.
Transportation and parking
Minibuses head to and from the airport from Bole Dild minibus station, located under the flyover opposite the terminal. For customers with luggage, a taxi may be a better choice, and can be pre-ordered or booked by your hotel concierge. Shuttle services to and from the airport are also offered by most major hotels, and on-order limousines are also available. Additionally, a large car park is located conveniently close to the terminals, providing both short- and long-term accommodation for vehicles.
At the airport
Customers flying from Addis Ababa with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 2, one of Africa’s largest international passenger terminals. Because of the sheer size of the terminal, as well as strict security checks for all international flights, it is advisable to allow at least two hours before your flight is due to depart to check-in and clear security checks.
Facilities and amenities
While there are no business or conference facilities at Addis Ababa, customers are well looked after when it comes to amenities. Comfortable lounges provide ample waiting areas, while premium lounges are also available for First and Business class customers.
A number of restaurants and cafés are open, serving everything from light snacks and drinks through to more substantial meals, and you can choose from both international and local cuisine. The shopping outlets provide a selection of both luxury goods and travel accessories, and banking facilities are also available in the terminal.
