Flying from Athens
The cradle of democracy and one of the most culturally important cities in the world, Athens is a juxtaposition of ancient and modern that enthrals visitors from around the globe.
Fly from Athens with Qatar Airways and you’ll experience an old-fashioned devotion to excellence and quality air travel. The Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport is an ultra-modern addition to Europe’s busy air transport network, and provides passengers with a fast and efficient service to all major international destinations.
Parking and transportation
Links between Athens and the airport are excellent. Athens Central Railway Station (also known as Larissa Station) and the port of Piraeus are connected to the airport by the fast and efficient suburban rail system.
Metro services link the city to the airport via metro line 3 and take approximately 45 minutes from the centre of the city to the terminals. Road transport links are also well served with buses, coaches and taxis all connecting from the city to the airport. It takes between an hour and an hour and a half to get from Athens or Piraeus respectively, so if you are travelling by bus, coach or taxi then leave plenty of time, especially if you travel during Athens’ notorious rush hour.
There are spaces for 7,100 cars, with short-term P1 and P2 car parks located just outside the arrivals halls of the Main Terminal, and long-term P3 spots by the main terminal.
Arriving at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport
Passengers flying from Athens with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal, Hall A, check-in area 1. Allow at least two hours before your flight is due to leave to clear customs and check-in.

Because it was only completed in 2001, facilities at the Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport are excellent and very modern. A variety of retail outlets provide everything from locally-made Greek goods through to high-value perfumes, watches and leather goods, while a selection of restaurants and cafés provide an excellent choice of both Greek and international cuisine, coffee and on-the-go snacks.
Wi-Fi access for up to 60 minutes is available, and courtesy phones are located throughout the terminal.
