Flying from Tunis
Tunis–Carthage Airport serves the Tunisian city of Carthage and the capital itself, Tunis. It is located a few miles east of Carthage, and is well served by public transport.
Modern, efficient and friendly, passengers flying from Tunis with Qatar Airways will find this spacious airport a pleasant departure point, with the emphasis placed firmly on delivering the best possible passenger experience. Staff are helpful and professional, and facilities are good.
Transportation and parking
Although no train service runs directly to the airport (the confusingly named L'Aéroport station on the TGM suburban rail line is actually some miles from the airport itself), there are plenty of buses and taxis available. Local bus 35 runs to and from the city and Tunis Marine train station, and takes approximately 30 minutes.
Look for yellow metred taxis, which are plentiful in the city and can also be pre-booked by your hotel concierge.
Avoid unofficial and unmetred taxis or taxi touts. Journey time by taxi from the city to the airport is approximately 20 minutes.
Airport parking is good, with 2,500 spaces available in the main parking area and a further 500 spaces outside Terminal 2.
Arriving in Tunis
Passengers flying from Tunis with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal Departures area. The airport is popular with holidaymakers and can be particularly busy during peak tourist season.
Security has also been tightened considerably recently, so it is advisable to arrive at least two hours before your flight is due to depart to check in and clear security and customs checks.
Facilities and amenities
Free Wi-Fi is available in some restaurants on-site, and mobile phone hire is also on offer if you suddenly find your phone has a flat battery. As local currency has to be exchanged within Tunisia, you will find currency kiosks and ATM machines throughout the terminal – remember to convert your currency before you leave.
Duty Free shopping is available in the Departure lounge, as well as a selection of retail outlets selling accessories and luxury goods. A food court offers local delicacies, snacks, drinks and more substantial international cuisine and meals.
There is a VIP lounge in the Departures area, although there are no conference or business facilities at the airport.
