On any list of places to explore in Nice, beaches are right at the top. The city’s coastline has earned its title as the French Riviera, with a warm Mediterranean climate, tiny coves and huge sweeps of golden sands. 

Beaches in Nice are family-friendly and full of things to do, like diving at La Réserve. This hidden gem is known for its vibrant atmosphere and has loads of ice cream stands. To escape the crowds, head to CoCo Beach, boasting spectacular rock formations and clear waters. For more privacy, take your little ones to Ruhl Beach and have a splash in the kids’ swimming pool.

Visit the Nice Carnival

One of the most anticipated annual events in France is the Nice Carnival – an explosion of colour, food, music and dance. It has a different theme each year, promising a unique experience every time you’re there. 

The carnival dates back to the 13th century and started as a local celebration of culture. It now brings more electrifying energy than ever, with parades of satirical puppets, giant masks and colourful floats.  

Thanks to exciting performances staged over two weeks, Nice Carnival is filled with joyful festivities. The highlight is Batailles de Fleurs, a floral showcase where thousands of flowers are thrown to crowds.
