Flying from Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai International Airport is Thailand’s fourth busiest airport and the gateway to northern Thailand. Chiang Mai is a growing commercial centre too, and many passengers flying from Chiang Mai with Qatar Airways are business travellers, who expect a premium-quality service and a warm welcome at the start of their journey.
Professional, highly trained staff at Chiang Mai are here to help you in every way they can, to make the start of your trip as comfortable and as stress-free as possible.
Transportation and parking
Transport to and from the airport is quick, easy and convenient, and the best way to get there is by using the red song-taews (passenger trucks), which run all over the city. However, if you have a lot of luggage with you then a taxi booked by your hotel concierge may be more convenient, or hire one of the thousands of Tuck-tucks (the iconic 3-wheelers that are the main form of transport around Thailand).
Limousines and private hire cars can be arranged for VIPs and business travellers, and travel times to and from the airport are relatively short, depending on what time of day you travel.
Arriving at the airport
Passengers flying from Chiang Mai with Qatar Airways depart from the international terminal’s Departures hall, located on the second floor. Although it’s a small airport in comparison to the larger transport hubs in the south of the country, it is very efficient and well organised, making check-in easy.
Staff are on hand to help you with baggage and to direct you to the correct boarding area, but do bear in mind that security checks are tight, so you should allow around an hour and a half before your flight is due to board to clear check-in and customs checks.
Facilities and amenities
A private lounge area for First and Business Class passengers is available, while the public lounge area is spacious and well laid out with comfortable waiting areas. There are several fast food outlets for quick bites, as well as coffee shops, a larger restaurant and snack vendors throughout the terminals.
A small retail sector has a number of outlets selling Thai silks, handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as travel essentials and Duty-Free. Currency exchange and ATMs are located throughout the terminals, and Wi-Fi access is available for a small fee.

Tourist attractions
Bavaria’s greatest asset has to be its stunning countryside, and the towering Alps create a magnificent backdrop to this stunning city. The main attraction in the city has to be the Residenzmuseum, home to Bavaria's Wittelsbach rulers from 1508 until 1914.
Tours start in the Grottenhof or Grotto Court with its spectacular Perseus Fountain, and take you through a guided tour of 90 rooms filled with some of Germany’s treasures.
Munich was home to Germany’s great architecture for centuries, and as such has become a city of palaces. The most popular is Schloss Nymphenburg, a wonderful Baroque palace set in acres of fabulously manicured gardens.
Once the home of the Bavarian kings, it is now open to the public and houses several museums including the Marstallmuseum, the Museum Mensch und Natur, the Erwin von Kreibig-Museum, and the Porzellanmuseum München.
