Flying from Frankfurt
Considered by many to be the Heart of Europe, Frankfurt sports an exciting skyline, made up of soaring skyscrapers, and Gothic spires. At ground level, you’ll find a stunning array of museums, fairytale squares, and the meandering curls of the River Main.
It’s well served by its incredibly efficient airport, which has a reputation for excellence and is regarded as one of Europe’s main air transport hubs. Set just 15km from the city centre, it’s easily accessible by the S-Bahn trains, which should only take between 10 and 15 minutes. If you’re travelling by car, the best road to take is the B43, which should see you arriving in less than 20 minutes. Alternatively, Frankfurt is well served by buses, many of which run directly to the airport.
Passengers flying from Frankfurt with Qatar Airways will find a clean, incredibly well-run airport where staff are keen to ensure that the passenger experience is a particularly good one. Facilities are exceptional, particularly for business passengers. At this Terminal, you’ll fly from either Pier D or Pier E, depending on your destination.
Transportation and parking
The Regional Train Station (platforms 1-3) is located beneath Terminal 1. From here, S-Bahn commuter trains, S8 and S9, run to and from the centre of Frankfurt, with a journey time of 15 minutes from the city’s central station to the airport. You can also catch the Regional Express trains (RE59, RE, and RE3) from this station.
Platforms 4-7 are for long-distance trains from other locations such as Cologne, making this a convenient airport for passengers travelling from across Germany. Regular buses and shuttles run from the centre of Frankfurt and take approximately 15 minutes. Taxis are plentiful and take around 20-30 minutes, depending on the traffic and the time of day.
Parking for around 15,000 vehicles is available in multi-storey buildings and a long-term parking area is located south of the runways with a regular shuttle bus linking to the terminals.
Arriving in Frankfurt
Passengers flying to Frankfurt with Qatar Airways arrive at Terminal 2, Concourse D. You’ll find Arrivals on Level 1. Should you be carrying an items that need to be declared, leave via the red exit for Customs. Should you not be carrying any declarable goods, leave via the green exit. Blue signs will direct you through passport control.
Facilities and amenities
The sheer scale of amenities at Frankfurt, particularly for business travellers, is exceptional. The ‘Airport City’ offers a complete business centre as well as shopping, relaxation, and hotel services.
The Airport City Mall near Terminal 1 has a complete range of national and international retailers, including luxury brands and high-end goods.
Children’s play areas keep the younger travellers happy, while an outstanding selection of refreshment vendors, restaurants and on-the-go snacks cater to passengers’ food and drink needs. Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport and is free for the first 30 minutes.

Tourist attractions
Top of the list has to be the Sydney Opera House. It sits on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens.
It is in fact a collection of venues that host 1,500 performances every year, attracting over a million visitors from around the world. From opera to modern dance, theatre to mime, this is the cultural heart of the city.
Many of the city’s landmarks are clustered around the harbour, and an excellent and very relaxing way to see them is to take a ferry east from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo or Manly, or west under the Harbour Bridge towards Parramatta.
This will also give you a great view of the harbour itself.
The city is famous for its museums, and visitors can choose from the Australian Museum, which has extensive exhibits covering Australia’s unique flora and fauna, through to the interactive Powerhouse Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
