Earn and redeem Avios and Qpoints

Privilege Club members can earn Avios and Qpoints on booking classes for flights marketed** and operated*** by any oneworld airline without having to join a separate frequent flyer programme. 

The number of Avios you can earn when flying with one of the oneworld member airlines depends on the airline, cabin, and booking class of travel.

Privilege Club members can also redeem their Avios for complimentary flights operated** by oneworld airlines or for journeys involving sectors**** on any number of oneworld carriers.

If you are a top tier member of oneworld member Frequent Flyer programme (Emerald or Sapphire), you are eligible to use any of more than 600 business class lounges globally.

  • To be eligible, you must be departing on a flight that is both marketed and operated by a oneworld member airline.
  • Qatar Airways Premium Lounges are not included in oneworld lounge access policy. However, oneworld customers holding First or Business Class tickets on Qatar Airways or other oneworld members are invited to use the lounges.
  • Some lounges may get busy at peak times, and access to them may be restricted as a result.
  • A non-affiliated third party may operate some lounges on behalf of the individual airline. Access to some lounges operated by third-parties on behalf of oneworld member airlines may be restricted at some times.
  • Arrivals lounges are excluded.
  • Spa and pre-flight dining facilities are excluded.
  • British Airways Concorde lounges are excluded.
Lounge access for frequent flyers by tier status

Enjoy exclusive access to premium airport lounges around the world with oneworld Emerald or Sapphire frequent flyer tier status. Members of oneworld airline frequent flyer programmes with the equivalent of oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status can use any lounge offered by any oneworld airline when departing on any flight marketed and operated by any oneworld member airline, regardless of cabin class being flown.

Emerald tier frequent flyers can use First Class, Business Class or frequent flyer lounges.

  • Sapphire tier frequent flyers are welcome in Business Class* or frequent flyer lounges. *Does not include Qantas Domestic Business Lounges.
  • Emerald and Sapphire members may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass and frequent flyer membership card, with oneworld Emerald or Sapphire tier status, to access a lounge.

The following exceptions apply:

  • American Airlines and Qantas offer programmes enabling customers to pay to gain access to their lounges. These programmes are not part of the oneworld agreement, and members of these programmes are not entitled to access lounges under the oneworld agreement.
  • American Airlines AAdvantage® members, regardless of their tier status or class of travel, are not eligible for lounge access when travelling solely on North American flights within or between the U.S., Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.   • Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold members, regardless of their oneworld tier status, cannot access Qantas Domestic Business Lounges.
  • Qatar Airways Premium Lounges are not included in oneworld lounge access policy. However, oneworld customers holding First or Business Class tickets on Qatar Airways or other oneworld members are invited to use the lounges.
  • Guests are not permitted in Qatar Airways Premium lounges.
  • TAM First Class Lounge in Sao Paulo Guarulhos International Airport is excluded.
Lounge access for First Class or Business Class customers

Indulge yourself before departure in a wider range of airport lounges when you fly First Class or Business Class with any oneworld member airline.

  • Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. First Class passengers may use a Business Class or frequent flyer lounge if a First Class lounge is not available.
  • First Class passengers may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline.

Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:

  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul* and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa). (* a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business Class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.

The following exceptions apply:

  • First and Business Class customers who do not hold Emerald or Sapphire tier status are not eligible to access American Airlines lounges when travelling on solely domestic flights within the U.S. or between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico [except Mexico City], the Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean); customers travelling in First or Business Class on U.S. transcontinental flights between JFK-LAX, JFK-SFO and MIA-LAX (and vice-versa) are eligible for lounge access.
  • Guests are not permitted in Qatar Airways Premium lounges.

  • *In accordance with the individual policy of the oneworld member airline operating the flight.
  • ** Marketed refers to the airline whose flight number is specified on your booking. 
  • *** Operated refers to the airline you are flying with.
  • **** A sector is a part of your itinerary e.g a return trip from London to Bangkok is a 4 sector journey, i.e. LHRDOH (1) – DOHBKK (2) – BKKDOH (3) – DOHLHR (4).
  • ***** Does not grant access for Premium Lounges unless holding a Premium Ticket. Lounge entry is subject to lounge capacity.
  • Lounge access is available on the day of departure when the next onward flight is marketed and operated by a oneworld airline.
  • To gain access to lounge, eligible frequent flyer programme members must show their frequent flyer programme membership card (plastic card) and a valid ticket and/or boarding card for a departure marketed and operated by any oneworld airline from that city on that day.
  • At peak periods, access to some lounges may be restricted because of capacity constraints. Access may not apply at a limited number of lounges operated by third parties.
  • Lounge access is not available to American Airlines’ AAdvantage members travelling on wholly North American itineraries (within the USA, Canada, Mexico (except Mexico City), Bermuda, Bahamas and the Caribbean).
  • Code-share flights carrying the codes of oneworld member airlines but operated by non-oneworld airlines do not offer oneworld services and benefits.
  • American Airlines and Qantas offer programmes enabling a customer to pay to gain access to their lounges. These lounge members do not automatically gain access to other oneworld carrier lounges as part of the oneworld agreement, but may qualify on oneworld lounge access rules.
  • Access to arrival lounges is not covered by oneworld agreements.

At select airports across our network, our Global Support Teams are on the ground, diligently tracking flights, to make sure everything goes smoothly the second you touch down.

oneworld Global Support is currently available in Hong Kong, London Heathrow, Madrid Barajas, New York JFK, Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O'Hare, Los Angeles, Sydney, and Tokyo Narita. The service is offered at these airports whenever possible, subject to operational constraints.
