Flying from Mashhad
Iran’s second busiest airport is also the gateway to Mashhad, making it hugely popular with business travellers, visitors and pilgrims. The airport handles over eight and a half million passengers every year, and connects to 57 destinations, making it one of the most important air transport hubs in the Middle East.
A recent expansion programme has increased capacity and space, making this an excellent starting point for passengers flying from Mashhad with Qatar Airways to other international locations. Attentive, professional staff go out of their way to ensure that the start of your journey is as smooth and efficient as possible, while providing a friendly and warm welcome.
Transportation and parking
The easiest way to travel to and from the airport is by taxi, which takes approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on the traffic.
Mashhad has an exceptionally good public transport system, which means the roads remain relatively clear, even during peak times. So if you travel to the airport during the morning or evening rush hour, you shouldn’t have to add too much extra journey time.
Buses also run regularly from the centre of the city, and many hotels provide hotel transfer and limousine services on request. The airport has an outdoor car park that can accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles.
Arriving in Mashhad
Passengers flying from Mashhad with Qatar Airways depart from the International terminal’s Departure area. While the check-in procedure is very well organised and efficient, it is important to bear in mind that security at the airport is very tight, and checks are incredibly thorough.
Ensure that all your travel documents are in order before you arrive at the airport. There are VIP lounges for first and business class passengers, and a large waiting area for all passengers to use, which is close to the gates.
Facilities and amenities
The airport provides a good selection of food and beverage outlets, including fast food kiosks, restaurants serving Persian and international cuisine, and coffee stands. A choice of retail outlets provide travellers with Duty Free, luxury goods and travel essentials, and there are some business amenities in the VIP lounges.
Wi-Fi is available in some parts of the airport, and there are ATMs, banking facilities and currency exchange outlets for international passengers. Prayer rooms can be used for devotions, and the airport is accessible for disabled passengers.
