The offer ensures the airline’s Privilege Club members will not lose their tier status if their travel plans change in light of COVID-19
Qatar Airways continues to ensure that all its passengers can travel with confidence
DOHA, Qatar — Qatar Airways’ loyalty programme, Privilege Club, is offering its members the opportunity to extend or reclaim their tier status for memberships due to end before 31 January 2021. Members will be able to retain their current tier benefits such as upgrades, Shop & Pay with Avios, extra baggage, lounge access, and more, for up to six months, with personalised offers. This is one of the many steps that Qatar Airways is taking to ensure its customers can travel with confidence.
Qatar Airways’ Privilege Club has introduced the offers in recognition that some of its members will be impacted by travel restrictions and flight reductions resulting from COVID-19 (coronavirus). Members can view their personalised offer at qatarairways.com/privilegeclub and must login and register to claim it by 24 March 2020.
Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Simon Talling-Smith, said: “As a result of the current situation regarding coronavirus, which has led to travel restrictions and flight reductions worldwide, many of our Privilege Club members have not travelled as frequently as they usually would.
“Such restrictions are outside of our control as an airline, but we do not want our members to lose their hard-earned membership tier status as a result. That is why we are honouring the loyalty our members have shown us by offering to extend their tier membership and retain their current benefits. Offers will be personalised to each member to ensure that they receive the benefit options most relevant to them.
“While we understand that some members may need or wish to change their travel plans, we want to assure them that when they do travel with Qatar Airways, they can travel with confidence. Our fleet is one of the cleanest in the skies, and we have introduced new policies to provide all customers with maximum flexibility to suit their travel plans.”
Qatar Airways recently launched a new commercial policy to allow all passengers that have booked or will book flights to travel up to 30 June 2020 the flexibility to change their travel plans free of charge by altering the dates of their booking or exchanging their ticket for a travel voucher valid for one year, up to three days prior to departure. This policy includes award flights. Privilege Club launched in 2000 as a form of appreciation to Qatar Airways’ loyal passengers, offering them the opportunity to earn Avios when travelling on Qatar Airways, oneworld® airlines, or any of the airlines’ partners. Avios has since served as another convenient means of payment at the award-winning Qatar Duty Free outlets, located in both the departure and arrival halls of Hamad International Airport, and at Oryx Galleria in Doha.
Privilege Club offers four membership tiers – Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum - each with their own exclusive benefits for members to enjoy. Avios are earned when members travel on Qatar Airways, oneworld® airlines, other airline partners or use the services of any of the airline’s 60+ global partners. Avios are awarded based on the booking class purchased, and can be redeemed for a range of exciting benefits and rewards including award flights, upgrades or extra baggage on Qatar Airways.
