Tourist attractions

While there are plenty of manmade sites to see, nature has been kind to Beirut too. The striking Pigeon Rocks is a huge natural arch that juts out of the Mediterranean, and is the perfect spot to pause with a coffee and watch the sun set over the ocean.

Jeita Grotto, located just 20km north of the city at the Valley of Nahr al-Kalb is a remarkable labyrinth of crystallised caves. A cable car ride that gives you a glorious view of the surrounding countryside takes you to the cave entrance.

Back in the city the Place de l'Etoile (Nejmeh Square) in the Downtown district is the spiritual heart of Beirut, with several important and beautifully decorated religious buildings located here.

Transportation and parking

There are several bus services to and from the centre of the city to the airport. There are also free terminal shuttles, which run frequently between the terminals. The Metro station is located at the end of Terminal 3 and runs 4-6 minute intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15-20 minutes during the night. The travel time from Nørreport Station in central Copenhagen to the airport is 15 minutes.

Taxis in Copenhagen are plentiful and relatively cheap – you can ask your hotel concierge to arrange either taxis or a limousine service to the airport, which is a better option if you have a lot of luggage. There are more than 10,000 car parking spaces for short, medium and long-term stays.

Arriving in Copenhagen

Banks, ATMs and a Bureau de Change are located in T2, and there is also a good selection of retail outlets offering passengers an excellent choice of goods and accessories.

Food and drinks vendors are plentiful, serving everything from some Danish and Scandinavian specialities through to international cuisine. There’s a play area for children and, unusually, a special lounge area for teenagers too.
