Book flights from Melbourne to Belgrade with Qatar Airways

Arriving in Belgrade

Belgrade is a Gothic masterpiece of ornate buildings, cobbled squares and wonderful East European character. Warm and welcoming, it is full of interesting little alleyways down which you’re likely to discover a tiny niche museum or a coffee shop selling the best pastries you’ve ever tasted.

Book a flight to Belgrade with Qatar Airways and you’ll instantly fall in love with this eclectic and at times eccentric city that’s a fusion of traditional values and ultra-modern progressive ambitions.

Despite having plenty packed into a relatively small area, Belgrade is remarkably easy to explore. Most of the key attractions are centrally located and are close to the majority of the hotels, so touring the city on foot is probably the easiest way to see it at its best.

Tourist attractions

At the heart of the city is Belgrade Fortress, a magnificent fortification that is now Belgrade’s central park. Access the park from the end of Knez Mihailova street, and take a walk along the battlements for some beautiful views, especially during sunset. Within the Fortress you’ll find cafés, museums and even an observatory.

The central Republic Square is a huge, cobbled open space that also houses the National Museum, the city’s main theatre and the most popular shopping street, Knez Mihailova.

Belgrade is full of royal palaces, and you can choose from the Old Royal Palace at Nikola Pasic Square, the White Palace or the New Palace, which is located conveniently next to the Old Palace. And well worth a visit is the Nikola Tesla museum, which charts the extraordinary life of Belgrade’s most famous son and one of the most brilliant scientific minds of his generation.

Travel considerations

Flights to Belgrade with Qatar Airways land at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, 18km from the city centre. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.

Before you fly to Belgrade please check the visa and passport requirements.

Belgrade is Serbia’s largest city as well as its capital, and is noted for its mix of interesting architectural styles. The medieval walls and many of the buildings gave Belgrade its soubriquet of ‘The White City’, and it still gleams from its vantage point over the Danube and Drina rivers in the noonday sun. View the famous Belgrade Fortress, and enjoy good shopping and dining.

Flying from Melbourne

This award-winning airport is one of the most popular in Australia, taking business and leisure travellers to destinations all over the globe. Qatar Airways flights from Melbourne take you to our hub in Doha, and the sheer comfort and luxury of Melbourne Airport means that your journey is a pleasure from the very start.

Aboriginal art decorates the airport terminals, while modern shopping options provide you with those last-minute gifts and souvenirs.

Transportation and parking

Short-term parking is available close to the main terminal, while longer-term options are also available. Business parking is just a few metres from the main building, and pick-up and drop-off points are located outside the main entrances.

A bus service runs from the long-term parking area to the main terminal. The Skybus to, and from, the airport runs from the city centre every 15 minutes, while other bus services run throughout the day. Taxis are plentiful, and a pre-book limousine service and car rental are also on offer.

Arriving in Melbourne

Qatar Airways flights from Melbourne depart from Terminal 2, which handles all outbound international flights. An expansion scheme was completed in 2012, providing greater space for retail outlets and passenger lounges.

Because Qatar Airways uses the new A380 Airbus, most departures will be from Gate 9 and11.

Facilities and amenities

The Air Lounge in Terminal 2 offers passengers a relaxing location to grab a quick bite before boarding their Qatar Airways flight from Melbourne.

A number of Australian produce outlets are also located in Terminal 2, as well as luxury accessories retailers and shops selling everything from surfing paraphernalia to perfumes and watches. There is also a large number of food options, from small cafés to excellent restaurants serving international cuisine.
