Book flights from Beijing to London with Qatar Airways
Flying from Beijing
Beijing Capital International Airport is the main departure and arrival point. Located 20 miles from the city centre, Beijing Airport is undergoing rapid expansion to accommodate increasing numbers of passengers, with the recently added and truly enormous Terminal 3 expanding its capacity considerably.
Passengers flying from Beijing with Qatar Airways will discover a friendly, incredibly efficient and modern airport, where emphasis is placed on the passenger experience from the moment you step through the doors.
Transportation and parking
As you would expect of a key air transport hub, Beijing Airport is well served by public transport. The Beijing Subway's Airport Express Metro service runs to and from Terminals 2 and 3 directly to the city centre, taking around 20 minutes.
The airport shuttle bus departs from major hotels and takes approximately 40-45 minutes to get to the airport’s Terminals 2 and 3. Metered taxis are plentiful, although it may be helpful if you don’t speak Chinese to ask a native speaker to write your destination on a piece of card for you, or ask your hotel concierge to pre-book your taxi on your behalf.
Avoid ‘unofficial’ taxis. The recently completed Terminal 3 (the main international terminal) has its own transport centre and a 7,000-space parking area, making it incredibly quick and easy to park and get to the terminal itself in just a few minutes.
Arriving in Beijing
Passengers flying from Beijing with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 3 concourse E, which is a satellite concourse off the main terminal.
As T3 is so vast (it is currently the second largest passenger terminal in the world), it is important to allow yourself plenty of time to get to your departure point before your flight is due to leave. Security is exceptionally tight in the terminal, so again allow extra time to clear customs/security checks.
Facilities and amenities
Facilities at Beijing are exceptional. The rows of seats in T3 all have individual electrical terminals for laptops/phone chargers etc. An extensive business centre provides everything from ‘pay-per-hour’ meeting rooms through to showers, conferencing facilities and business services.
Shopping is exceptionally good, with everything from Duty Free and travel accessories through to luxury jewellery, leather goods, perfume and gifts available. An extensive food court provides a selection of Chinese street food, noodle bars, drinks and more substantial international cuisine as well.
