Flying from Munich

Clean, efficient and welcoming – Munich Airport is everything you would expect from Germany’s second-largest international air hub. Voted European Airport of the Year in 2011, it puts the emphasis on efficiency and a friendly, professional service to enhance the passenger experience.

Customers flying from Munich with Qatar Airways will find this airport to be one of the best in the world for ease of transit, and if you are transferring between flights at Munich you’ll find the process to be effortless and stress-free.

Parking and transportation

Transport to the airport is, as you would expect, highly organised and extremely well run. The airport is directly connected to the city by the Munich suburban railway (S-Bahn) lines S1 and S8, which take approximately 45 minutes from the centre of Munich to the terminals.

Munich Airport Terminal station is located in a tunnel beneath the central area. Buses are also regular, with MVV bus lines linking to the nearby city of Freising, Erding and Markt Schwaben.

Taxis are plentiful. There are also plenty of parking areas close to the terminals, with those located a little further out linked by shuttle bus service.

Arriving at Munich Airport

Passengers flying from Munich with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 1, Module B. Check in counters, security points, customs and most facilities are located on level 4.

Amenities and facilities

There are a wealth of retail outlets, duty free points and refreshment vendors throughout the terminal. Most restaurants are located on level 4 and serve everything from on-the-go snacks and coffee to more substantial meals. Free Internet services are available for up to 30 minutes.

The main point of reference for passengers is the Munich Airport Centre or MAC, situated between terminals 1 and 2, which is a dedicated services and facilities centre for passengers’ use. It houses a complete shopping mall and conference centre, and even an ice skating rink in the winter.

Arriving in Sydney

Despite what most people think, Sydney is not actually Australia’s capital, but is probably its most iconic and instantly recognisable one, thanks to exceptional monuments such as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Modern, thriving and continually expanding, Sydney is the powerhouse of Australia and one of the most vibrant cities on the Pacific Rim.

Book a flight to Sydney with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover that it’s also a centre for the arts, music and theatre, with an incredibly relaxed and laid-back atmosphere for such a large metropolis.

Warm and friendly people welcome visitors with open arms, and its business sector is innovative and progressive, making it an excellent destination for business travellers too.

Tourist attractions

Top of the list has to be the Sydney Opera House. It sits on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It is in fact a collection of venues that host 1,500 performances every year, attracting over a million visitors from around the world. From opera to modern dance, theatre to mime, this is the cultural heart of the city.

Many of the city’s landmarks are clustered around the harbour, and an excellent and very relaxing way to see them is to take a ferry east from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo or Manly, or west under the Harbour Bridge towards Parramatta.

This will also give you a great view of the harbour itself.

The city is famous for its museums, and visitors can choose from the Australian Museum, which has extensive exhibits covering Australia’s unique flora and fauna, through to the interactive Powerhouse Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

To find out more about Australia’s First Nation people, head to the Royal National Park where you’ll find Aboriginal rock carvings, or take a guided interpretative walk at Berry Island.
