Dine on dishes from a menu of award-winning cuisine, served by a welcoming and highly-trained cabin crew in pleasant surroundings.

The New South Wales capital is one of Australia’s bigger cities, and its waterfront Opera House is recognisable the world over because of its iconic, sail-like profile. Darling Harbour down on the waterfront is the city’s main entertainment area, regularly staging concerts and live theatre performances. There’s a vibrant cafe society and plenty of gourmet restaurants both here and in the nearby port of Circular Quay. The observation platform at the top of Sydney Tower offers fabulous views across the city, and everyone loves the Sydney Sea Life Aquarium with its walk-through Perspex tunnels.

Flying from Zagreb

Croatia’s main international airport is located just 10km from the city’s central station and is rapidly expanding to become one of the most important air transport hubs in Eastern Europe. Zagreb International Airport (also known as Pieso Airport), provides passengers flying from Zagreb with Qatar Airways with a fast, efficient and modern departure point where the passenger experience is key. Friendly, helpful staff are on hand to make the start of your journey a memorable one, while good quality facilities and some excellent dining make it an experience to remember.

Transportation and parking

Driving from Zagreb to the airport is easy – simply follow the E11 route and then follow the signs to the town of Velika Gorica and the airport. The "Pleso prijevoz" shuttle bus service runs a dedicated service between the main bus station in the city and the airport, with a journey time of around 30 minutes. Taxis are plentiful and efficient, taking approximately 20-30 minutes from most central hotels, depending on the traffic conditions. Short-term parking is available close to the terminals in parking P1 and P3, while a little further away P2 offers long-term stays at a lower cost.

Arriving in Zagreb

Passengers flying from Zagreb with Qatar Airways currently depart from Terminal 1. The new Terminal 2 is scheduled for opening in 2016/17. Terminal 1 has recently undergone extensive renovation, and the check-in and Departures area is well laid out and very efficient. Security is tight so allow some extra time before your flight is due to board to pass through customs checks. There are several lounge areas available for passengers, including a VIP and First-class lounge.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities have improved considerably, and the terminal now boasts new retail outlets selling luxury goods, perfumes, accessories and Duty Free. There are also a good selection of food and beverage vendors, including a restaurant that serves both Croatian and international dishes. Passengers can get up to 15 minutes of free Wi-Fi and can then purchase vouchers or pay with a credit card to access more time. A bank, Bureau de Change facilities and ATMs are all available throughout the terminal, and there is also a mother and baby room for young mums.

Arriving in Sydney

Despite what most people think, Sydney is not actually Australia’s capital, but is probably its most iconic and instantly recognisable one, thanks to exceptional monuments such as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

Modern, thriving and continually expanding, Sydney is the powerhouse of Australia and one of the most vibrant cities on the Pacific Rim.

Book a flight to Sydney with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover that it’s also a centre for the arts, music and theatre, with an incredibly relaxed and laid-back atmosphere for such a large metropolis.

Warm and friendly people welcome visitors with open arms, and its business sector is innovative and progressive, making it an excellent destination for business travellers too.

Tourist attractions

Top of the list has to be the Sydney Opera House. It sits on Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour, close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens.

It is in fact a collection of venues that host 1,500 performances every year, attracting over a million visitors from around the world. From opera to modern dance, theatre to mime, this is the cultural heart of the city.

Many of the city’s landmarks are clustered around the harbour, and an excellent and very relaxing way to see them is to take a ferry east from Circular Quay to Taronga Zoo or Manly, or west under the Harbour Bridge towards Parramatta.

This will also give you a great view of the harbour itself.

The city is famous for its museums, and visitors can choose from the Australian Museum, which has extensive exhibits covering Australia’s unique flora and fauna, through to the interactive Powerhouse Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art.

To find out more about Australia’s First Nation people, head to the Royal National Park where you’ll find Aboriginal rock carvings, or take a guided interpretative walk at Berry Island.
