Book flights from Sao Paulo to Tokyo with Qatar Airways

It’s the small but significant details that make a big difference in air travel, particularly on flights from Sao Paulo to Tokyo with Qatar Airways. Treat yourself to a selection of premium services offered to you by an award-winning cabin crew, known for their supreme hospitality. Delicious food from an exclusive menu is served to you while you recline in spacious seating with plenty of legroom, and thousands of entertainment options on your personal screen will help the time on board slip by smoothly.

Japan’s densely-populated capital is a rainbow of neon-lit office blocks where the traditional and the ultra-modern sit harmoniously side by side. Cultural monuments such as the Meiji Shinto Shrine with its huge ornate gate and the Imperial Palace set in pristine ornamental gardens represent an older face of this ancient city, and there are many museums and galleries dedicated to all facets of the capital. The Tokyo National Museum is a case in point, but there are also smaller institutions such as the Edo-Tokyo Museum that houses wonderful ethnographic collections.

Flying from Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos–Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport (also known locally as Cumbica Airport) is the main international airport serving Sao Paulo, Brazil. Its central location and proximity to the country’s main tourist resorts makes it a hugely important passenger hub. It also has the accolade of having the Tropic of Capricorn pass through its southern tip.

The airport is modern, busy and has plenty of facilities for passengers flying from Sao Paulo with Qatar Airways.

Parking and transportation

The airport is vast, but is well served by a network of buses supplied by both the airport and independent operators. Line 13 of the Sao Paulo's suburban rail system, the CPTM, is under construction and is expected to begin operating this year. Taxi stands are located outside the two terminals, and hotels along Paulista Avenue and Rua Augusta are happy to organise airport transportation by limousine or taxi for passengers.

There are two main parking locations, one of which is located approximately 2km from the airport but connects to the terminals with regular bus shuttle services. A second short-stay ‘Park and Board’ car park is located four minutes from the main airport.

Arriving at Sao Paulo

Passengers flying from Sao Paulo with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 3 Hall F. The open plan design of the terminal should make locating check in desks relatively easy.

Large lounge areas for passengers are dotted throughout the terminal with access to a range of amenities including cafeterias and duty free shopping.

Facilities and amenities

Terminal 3 has recently been revamped, and there is a selection of retail outlets selling premium quality goods and accessories now located in T3.

Currency exchange facilities and ATMs are positioned throughout the terminal, as are a number of refreshment suppliers, including cafés for light snacks and drinks. These are mainly focused around the mezzanine area in T3.

Arriving in Narita, Tokyo

While most people will constrain their visit to Narita purely to travel to and from the airport on the way to nearby Tokyo, the town itself does have plenty to offer visitors who are willing to stop and look around. Book a flight to Narita with Qatar Airways and you could discover this interesting little destination for yourself, before you head to the bright lights of Tokyo.

Charming and with plenty of traditional Japanese character, Narita is a relatively tranquil location that gives visitors a taste of the real Japan. The people are friendly and welcoming, and are happy to show tourists willing to interrupt their journey to the capital around their little town. Nearby attractions make this off-the-beaten-track location well worth exploring.

Tourist attractions

The town is known for its ancient buildings, and one of the best is the Naritasan Shinshō-ji Temple, the site of which dates back to the 10th century. Classical pagodas and tranquil gardens are complemented by a European style garden too, making it an interesting fusion of two distinctly different cultures.

To really understand a little more about Japanese culture, take a trip to Boso No Mura, a living museum dedicated to the culture of the Japanese people. It includes a reconstructed traditional Japanese street, burial mound and a samurai residence. The centre hosts festivals and events celebrating the native culture of Japan’s islands too.

The Museum of Aeronautical Science is about 15 minutes by bus from the airport, while at the northern end of the runway you’ll find a surprisingly tranquil spot, Sakura-no-Yama Hill. This is a great spot to watch the aeroplanes take off and land, and during the spring the cherry trees turn this peaceful little park into a riot of colour.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Narita with Qatar Airways land at Narita Airport, Japan’s largest international air transport hub. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Narita please check the visa and passport requirements.
