Book flights from Shanghai to Venice with Qatar Airways

On flights from Shanghai to Venice with Qatar Airways, you’ll have the opportunity to appreciate the finer aspects of world-class air travel. We pay great attention to the details of your in-flight comfort, which means you can relax in ergonomic, spacious cabins and choose from a delicious range of in-flight meals along the way. Our dedicated cabin crew will take care of your every need, helping you land in Venice feeling thoroughly refreshed.

Venice is an incredibly beautiful city, famous for its canals and renaissance-themed palazzos. Take a trip down the Grand Canal and the famous Bridge of Sighs to experience the Venice of legend, and if you’re here for a carnival, choose a suitably ornate costume and join in with the exotic celebrations. The top attractions include the Ducal Palace and St. Mark’s Square, and there are many excellent gourmet restaurants and boutique shopping outlets on offer too.

Flying from Shanghai

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is one of two airports serving the huge metropolis of Shanghai, and one of the busiest international airports in Asia.

Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways will find this to be a modern, efficient and very well organised departure point.

Courteous staff are only too happy to do everything possible to make the start of your journey a pleasant one, and the excellent modern facilities and amenities, and easy access from Shanghai itself make this airport an excellent choice for destinations all over the world.

Transportation and parking

The airport is well served by rail, bus and taxi options, and getting from the city centre to the airport is quick and easy. The Maglev Train is the fastest magnetic levitation train in the world, and connects the airport with metro line 2 at Longyang Station, taking just 8 minutes from point to point. Trains run every 15 minutes from 7am to 9pm.

The station is situated next to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a bridge. Airport bus 1 connects the airport with Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, while other routes run every few minutes to various locations in Shanghai including the Galaxy Hotel and Shanghai South railway station.

Taxis are plentiful but as many drivers only speak Chinese it is best to ask your hotel concierge to book a taxi on your behalf.

Parking consists of a three-floor multi-storey car park with space for over 3,000 vehicles, and a surface car park for short and long-term parking in front of the terminal buildings.

Arriving in Shanghai

Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 2. Check in and security checks are rapid, but it is still wise to allow between one to two hours before your flight is due to board to clear the strict security and customs checks.

It is vital that all paperwork is in order as any issues could delay you considerably.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities are modern, with plenty of retail and food and drink vendors providing an excellent selection of goods and snacks. Food and retail outlets are primarily on the third floor of the terminal.

The lounge areas are spacious and comfortable, and free Wi-Fi is available, along with mobile phone charging stations.

There are several banks, a Bureau de Change and ATMs throughout the terminals, and there is a business centre in the Arrivals terminal, as well as a VIP room.

Arriving in Venice

Unique, beautiful and historic, Venice has to be at the top of almost everyone’s ‘Bucket List’ of places to see. From the magnificent St Mark’s Square to the Rialto Bridge, its canals, monuments and iconic attractions never fail to dazzle and amaze.

Book a flight to Venice with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover that this city lives up to your expectations in every way. Passionate and glamorous, it is also a business centre for northern Italy and is still as important as a commerce centre as it was hundreds of years ago when merchants flocked to its markets to do business. Now tourists flock to its monuments, making it one of the most popular destinations on the planet.

Tourist attractions

The whole of Venice is a tourist attraction, but it’s worth seeking out those unexpected gems by exploring its labyrinth of alleyways and squares. You can also head out to the islands on the lagoon, where you’ll find everything from the famous Venetian glass studios to the fascinating mausoleums of the island cemetery, the final resting place for the city’s great and good.

Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale) on San Marco Square is a must-see, and ensure that your ticket includes the guided tour ‘Secret Itinerary’, which takes you into the heart of the building, including Casanova’s jail. Also on the square is the iconic Clock Tower – the exquisitely painted clock face is truly exceptional and decorated with the phases of the moon as well as the hours.

Sailing down the canals on a gondola is a great way to see the city, although if you prefer a more ‘hop-on-hop-off’ approach the water buses are cheap, plentiful and run throughout the city and the surrounding lagoon. Obviously, keep an eye out for the Rialto Bridge, but Venice’s other bridges all have their own unique features, including some particularly gruesome gargoyles. To see how a gondola is made, stop by the Squero (Venetian for small ship yard) across the canal near San Trovaso Church.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Venice with Qatar Airways land at Marco Polo Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Venice please check the visa and passport requirements.
