DOHA, Qatar – Qatar Airways will celebrate this year’s Qatar National Day by creating a host of special moments for passengers travelling both on board the ‘World’s Best Airline’, and via its home and hub Hamad International Airport (HIA).

Qatar National Day commemorates the founding of the State of Qatar on 18 December, 1878, by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, under whom Qatar became a single, coherent nation and an independent, unified country.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “Qatar National Day is a time to reflect on the nation’s incredible success and to celebrate its unique cultural identity. As the national carrier of the State of Qatar, we mark this day by extending our gratitude to our beloved country.

“We take pride in carrying the name ‘Qatar’ around the world, and our celebrations are a reflection of pride in our identity, embodying the nation’s values, spirit and vision.

“On behalf of the entire Qatar Airways Group, I wish you and your families a happy Qatar National Day.”

First and Business Class passengers will receive a warm welcome with a refreshing beverage created for this occasion – a  special ‘Berries Fizz’ drink, nicely complimented with a specially designed bespoke menu, featuring a range of flavoursome dishes and a choice of exclusive National Day inspired desserts. Passengers will also be presented with a box of rich Läderach chocolate to commemorate and celebrate this year’s festivities.

The Economy Class cabin will be dressed with Qatar National Day themed headrest covers, and passengers can select their meal preference from a bespoke digital menu, featuring a range of delicious dishes inspired by Qatari cuisine.

In addition, passengers flying with the airline on Qatar National Day will enjoy  complimentary Super Wi-Fi for the duration of their flights across all cabin classes.

Qatar National Day celebrations continue through to the Al Safwa First Class Lounge and Al Mourjan Business Lounge at HIA. Passengers can delight in the flower arrangements inspired by the colours of Qatar’s National flag whilst enjoying the traditional and aromatic Arabic coffee and dates, symbolic of hospitality and generosity. For those who wish to dine, the menu features Qatari culinary favourites which amongst many choices include Chicken Machboos, Chicken Maklouba, themed desserts, a special bread assortment, and signature mocktails.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar continues to rebuild its network, which currently stands at over 140 destinations. With more frequencies being added to key hubs, Qatar Airways offers unrivalled connectivity to passengers, making it easy for them to change their travel dates or destination as required.
