Flights to Bosnia and Herzegovina with Qatar Airways

A proud country with a rich cultural identity, Bosnia is one of the most vibrant, adventurous and unique countries in the Balkans, offering travellers stunning landscapes, scenic drives, many great activities and a warm welcome. It sits between Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro, and is formed of stunning mountain ranges and villages where time seems to have slowed down While its cities are modern, the tranquillity and laid-back approach to life in the countryside makes it a wonderful destination for holidays a little off the beaten track.

Travel to Bosnia with Qatar Airways and explore a country that’s perfect for travellers year-round. Some of the best skiing in Europe on offer during the winter; the slopes of Bosnia are less crowded compared to alpine resorts, and the opportunities to ski off-piste are plentiful. During the summer, you’ll find meadows filled with flowers and forests scented with pine, perfect for hiking, mountain-biking, and camping.

However, if you prefer to experience a more luxurious trip, then the cities offer plenty of five-star accommodation at great prices. Sarajevo, the country’s capital, is a modern and busy location, where traditional Balkan personality meets 21st century Europeanism. This makes it a popular spot for travellers who want a city break that’s a little different from usual destinations of Paris or Berlin.

Sarajevo is easy to reach, with connections from most international destinations readily available. A great way to see the country at a more leisurely pace is to take a train ride across the heartland of Bosnia. A journey time of 10 hours will take you from Sarajevo to Zagreb (Croatia’s capital), and on towards the rest of Europe, or you can hire a car and explore the roads that wind their way up into the mountains.

Much of Bosnia’s best tourist attractions are natural, and rafting on the Neretva River takes you through some spectacular canyons and challenging rapids. For a more sedate way to experience the great outdoors, fishing trips to the stunning Bosanska Krajina region in the northwest will reveal a network of exceptional fishing spots along the river Sana.

To get a better understanding of the country’s rich history and heritage, head into Sarajevo and visit the City Museum, which takes you on a guided tour through the ages, from Roman times through to the most recent conflict and the country’s re-emergence as an independent state.
