Flights to Seychelles with Qatar Airways
The 115 granite and coral islands that make up the Seychelles archipelago sit serenely in the Indian Ocean and have become a most coveted destination for luxury travel. Fly to the Seychelles with Qatar Airways and soak up in the sun, enjoy amazing scenery, and know for yourself why this location is ideal for a luxurious and exclusive holiday.
The natural attributes of these breathtakingly beautiful islands are their biggest draw as far as tourists are concerned. The glossy brochure covers are a true reflection of the Seychelles’ fine sandy beaches, inland jungles bordered by date palms, clear blue waters and sheer granite cliffs. They’re the setting for fashion-shoots and dream vacations, and very much at the upper end of the tourism market.
Several fragile tropical habitats are represented in the Seychelles, and these are some of the best preserved of their kind on the planet. The islands are fondly known as the ‘Galapagos of the Indian Ocean’ because of their relative remoteness and volcanic origins. Because no man or woman has ever settled here, their ecosystems were never disrupted and they continue to be a sanctuary for rare birds, mammals and giant tortoises.
Arab traders were probably the first to pass through the Seychelles, followed by the Portuguese and then inevitably by the English in the early 1600s. The islands were a notorious base for pirates in the 1700s before the French took charge and gave them their present name. You can still see their original ‘Stone of Possession’ in the excellent ethnographic museum in Mahe. Britain later gained control of the Seychelles from the French during the Napoleonic Wars, and the islands finally achieved independence from foreign interference in 1976.
Today, visitors enjoy the old Creole culture and French colonial mansions, as well as the immaculate beaches and jungles of these true paradise islands.
