Flights to Sudan with Qatar Airways

Travel to Sudan with Qatar Airways and you’ll find great natural beauty and many ancient monuments and ruins. The country is an undiscovered gem that adventurous travellers find incredibly rewarding to visit, populated by some of the most hospitable and warm people you’ll find.

Sudan is a mix of wild and often unexplored landscapes, along with modern cities such as its capital, Khartoum, buzzing with office blocks as well as museums.. Khartoum is quite a youthful city, and was built where the Blue and White Niles merge in 1821. Past years have seen great oil revenues flow into the country, furnishing much of Khartoum’s glittering skyline. The country’s high-rise office blocks create an interesting juxtaposition with the city’s Islamic classical architecture, which means a walk through the streets of this city will prove to be most compelling.

In the surrounding region you’ll find a wealth of interesting sites just a short drive away. They include the ancient city-state of Meroe to the northeast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that boasts no fewer than 200 pyramids, features of old mausoleums. These thrust out of the dunes of the Nubian Desert and date to around 300 BCE.

The Nubian Desert is actually a worthy destination in its own right when you come to Sudan. Technically part of the huge Sahara, it stretches far to the east, to the Red Sea and the Port of Sudan, and you simply can’t beat for unspoilt and grand natural beauty and serenity.

Sudan has a good commercial infrastructure in Khartoum and offers a unique mix of modernity and deep tradition, along with a history that goes back to ancient times.
