Flying from Edinburgh

Edinburgh International Airport is the busiest airport in Scotland. Despite being a busy air transport hub, it still manages to retain a friendly, personal feel than many other large airports. It’s easy to navigate your way around the complex, which makes checking-in and finding your flight departure point quick and easy. You’ll find the staff incredibly friendly and helpful, and flying from Edinburgh with Qatar Airways is a great way to start your journey in a relaxed and comfortable way.

Transportation and Parking

A dedicated 24/7 airport bus service, Airlink (Service 100), runs from outside the terminal building (stance 19) to Edinburgh city centre every 10 minutes. The buses have Wi-Fi access on-board, so passengers can spend their journey time checking emails. The Edinburgh Tram system also connects the airport to the city centre. Taxis are available outside the main entrance. Parking is located right outside the terminal, so it’s only a short walk to check-in. There are two parking options: a covered multi-storey car park and a surface parking area. A pre-book service is available for parking, which can save up to 65 percent on the cost.

Arriving at Edinburgh International Airport

The departure check-in desks are located immediately in front of the main entrances. Security is very tight at the airport, so ensure that all baggage is packed correctly and that you do not have any of the listed banned items in your bags. Check-in can be done online or at the airline check-in desks. If you are flying with Qatar Airways from Edinburgh you should check in at least three hours before your flight is due to leave.
Facilities and amenities

Edinburgh International Airport has a good selection of shops and retail outlets, including wellness products, beauty and manicure services, duty-free and travel goods. There are also outlets that specialise in Scottish products, so you can pick up a souvenir of your vacation in Scotland. A range of amenities from baby-care areas to banking are also available. A selection of eateries, restaurants and cafés serve everything from Japanese Sushi and seafood to on-the-go snacks and coffee.

Arriving in Adelaide

Adelaide was founded in 1836 on a foundation of religious and ethnic tolerance, principles that it still holds to today. Australia’s fifth largest city is a green, tranquil location that’s focused on the arts, theatre, and music. But that’s not all, the city also has a strong commercial heart, with defence, motor manufacturing and IT industries dominant in the growing economy. This makes Adelaide popular with both leisure and business travellers and one of the most relaxed and welcoming locations in Australia.

Fly to Adelaide with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover an historic city filled with fabulous architecture, wide-open parks, and a 21st century commercial sector that is drawing investment from all around the world. Its cultural significance makes it a great destination for art and culture lovers, while adventurers are only a short drive from the magnificent Australian Outback.

Tourist attractions

Sport is a hugely important part of Australian life, and Adelaide is no different from any other city. It has invested in the redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval, which is now one of the premier cricket stadiums in the country. If there is no game scheduled then you can still take a tour of the museum, or enjoy a meal at the Oval’s "Hill of Grace" restaurant. The Oval is also the venue for numerous music events throughout the year.

March in Adelaide is known as ‘Mad March’ for the sheer number of festivals and events, including the Adelaide Festival, The Adelaide Cup horse racing carnival, the Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide, the Clipsal 500 Car race, and various music festivals. Venues across the city welcome thousands of visitors, so if you are travelling to Adelaide during March then it’s advisable to book your accommodation well in advance, as hotel rooms fill up very quickly.

Many of Adelaide’s main attractions are focused in and around the North Terrace. Along here you’ll find the Casino, the State Library, Adelaide University and the University of South Australia, Parliament House, Government House, and the Migration Museum. You can also browse the changing exhibitions at Adelaide Art Gallery, visit the historic Ayers House (former home of Henry Ayers), or spend a quiet afternoon among the blooms of the Botanic Gardens. North Terrace itself is a pleasant, tree-lined boulevard with wonderful colonial architecture.
