Book flights from Amsterdam to Auckland with Qatar Airways

Book flights from Amsterdam to Auckland with Qatar Airways and you can look forward to a great in-flight experience, whether you’re travelling to New Zealand for business or pleasure. Enjoy comfortable, spacious seating while you take your pick from an award-winning menu of delicious cuisine offered by a professional and friendly cabin crew.

Auckland is a major city built around two huge harbours on New Zealand’s North Island. Viaduct Harbour is packed with yachts, bars and cafés, and is a great place to spend the evening. The oldest park is Auckland Domain, with an extinct volcano at its centre. This lush open space is home to the famous Winter Gardens, while the Mission Bay Beach has a popular promenade overlooking the sea. Meanwhile, venues such as Auckland Art Gallery and Auckland War Memorial Museum are always worth a visit.

Arriving in Auckland

Located on New Zealand’s North Island, Auckland is a thriving amalgamation of four cities; Manukau, Waitakere, North Shore, and Auckland City itself. Home to over 1.45 million people, it’s a vibrant, energetic location. Auckland welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world every year, making it one of the most popular destinations in the Pacific region.

Fly to Auckland with Qatar Airways and you’ll also discover a cultural city that puts a strong emphasis on the performing arts, music, and theatre. Its rich culinary culture also makes it a fascinating city if you’re a food lover, and there is a particularly strong Southern Asian influence in its cuisine.

Tourist attractions

The Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is home to the largest collection of indigenous art in New Zealand, as well as an impressive collection of international art. The building itself is an award-winning landmark that sits on the edge of Albert Park in the very centre of the city. The gallery also hosts regular events, exhibitions, and film screenings, and puts on a lot of events for younger visitors too.

New Zealand is famous for its spectacular landscape and outdoor beauty, and even in the heart of the city you’ll find plenty of green spaces to relax and explore. Top of the list is the historic Winter Gardens, where alongside some of the best tropical flower displays in Auckland, you’ll also find a good collection of sculpture by local artists.

If you want an uninterrupted view of the entire city and its surroundings, then head for the Sky Tower. At 328m, this is the tallest free-standing building in the Southern Hemisphere. At the top is a revolving restaurant, and on a good day you can see views of up to 80 km away. Back down at ground level is the MOTAT, or Museum of Transport and Technology, an interactive museum with over 300,000 items on display, including a World War II Lancaster bomber.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Auckland with Qatar Airways land at Auckland Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Auckland please check the visa and passport requirements.

Flying from Amsterdam

A centre for international commerce and the heart of Europe’s diamond industry, Amsterdam is a unique city with a laid-back atmosphere and a vibrant tourist scene. Customers flying from Amsterdam with Qatar Airways will find Schiphol Airport just as welcoming and eclectic, but with an additional air of efficiency that makes it one of the most popular business departure points in Europe. The staff go out of their way to make the start of your journey as smooth and as hassle-free as possible.

Transportation and parking

The airport is just under five miles from the centre of Amsterdam, and is well served by public transport systems. A railway terminal is located in the centre of the airport under Schiphol Plaza, and journeys from the centre of the city to the airport by train take approximately 15 minutes. Buses are plentiful and connect the airport to Amsterdam and all other major Dutch cities. Taxis can be pre-booked by your hotel concierge or hailed, and many hotels also offer a free shuttle service to the airport. Parking is good, with two short-term car parks close to the terminal, and a long-term car park some 4km from the airport, connected by a free, 24-hour shuttle service.

At the airport

Customers flying from Amsterdam with Qatar Airways will usually leave from concourse D or G. The single terminal is split into three different departure halls, so it’s important to ensure you leave plenty of time to get to the correct departure point for your flight. Security at the airport, as in all European departure points, is very tight, so allow extra time to clear check-in and security checks.

Facilities and amenities

It’s easy to get connected at the airport, with free Wi-Fi throughout and internet kiosks in departure areas 1 and 2, as well as specialist multimedia telephone outlets that can also be used for SMS messaging. Food lovers are well served with an excellent selection of vendors serving both on-the-go snacks and more substantial meals. Retail outlets range from luxury goods to Duty Free and travel accessories. Massage and hairdresser services are available for pre-flight pampering, and a prayer room provides quiet space for devotions.
