Book flights from Doha to Bucharest with Qatar Airways

Arriving in Bucharest

Bucharest is Romania’s capital city and is rapidly becoming one of Europe’s tourist hot-spots. Filled with elegant buildings, cobbled squares and fabulous galleries, Bucharest captures the imagination at any time of year. Business travellers will also discover it to be an important commercial hub, with a strong finance and investment sector as well as a growing high-tech marketplace filled with innovative and groundbreaking ideas.

Book a flight to Bucharest with Qatar Airways and you’ll step back into an age of elegance, where fine dining and refinement are the order of the day. The people are warm and welcoming, giving visitors an experience to remember and making Bucharest one of the most popular destinations on the continent.

Tourist attractions

The heart of the city is the Old Centre or Lipscani, which stretches from the Dâmboviţa River to the south, Calea Victoriei to the west, Calea Moşilor to the east and Regina Elisabeta Boulevard to the north. Here you’ll find everything from elegant 19th century façades and hotels where quiet opulence is the norm, to the ruins of the medieval court of the Wallachian princes. Narrow cobbled streets add real atmosphere to the city, and are a pleasure to wander down and explore.

In the centre of Bucharest, near Piaţa Unirii (Union Piazza), sits Parliament Palace – the largest parliament building in the world. Twelve storeys high and with 3100 rooms, the palace was recently built – and even has a network of underground tunnels below the surface. Many of the rooms are lined by Romanian marble, and daily tours take visitors through the building (wear comfortable shoes as the tours can be quite lengthy).

Romania is proud of its traditional lifestyle and roots, and two excellent museums to explore this culture are the Village Museum and the Museum of the Romanian Peasant. The Village Museum is a vast, open-air complex of around 300 traditional buildings from every region of the country. The Museum of the Romanian Peasant celebrates the culture of the Romanian people through textiles, interiors and folk art.

Flights to Bucharest with Qatar Airways land at Henri Coandă International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.
