Transportation and parking

The airport has an excellent ground transportation network, with a mainline train station just a kilometre from the terminal. This is served by regular shuttle buses and trains take passengers to and from Bucharest North station the centre of the city in 20-25 minutes. Express buses also link with Bucharest North station, and a hotel shuttle bus service operates from select central Bucharest accommodation providers. Taxis are plentiful and take between 20-25 minutes, although you will need to allow extra time during peak traffic periods. Short-term parking is available close to the terminal, while long-term parking is located a little further away but still within walking distance. Spaces are limited, and long-term stays are limited to 30 days.

Arriving at Bucharest

Passengers flying from Bucharest with Qatar Airways depart from the Departures area in the main terminal. A second terminal is planned, but currently all flights leave from the existing terminal. Check in and security are relatively stress-free and smooth, although it is advised to arrive at least one and a half to two hours before your flight is due to board to clear customs checks and security.

Facilities are good at the airport, with exclusive VIP lounges for first and business class travellers, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout the terminal. All areas of the terminal are fully accessible for disabled travellers, with lifts and assistance available where needed. There are several food outlets in the Departures area which are open 24 hours a day, and a selection of good quality retail vendors and shops selling accessories, luxury goods, perfume, jewellery and Duty Free. ATM and banking facilities are located throughout the terminal.

Tourist attractions
