Flying from Nagpur
Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport serves the city of Nagpur in India, and connects to international destinations around the world. This small airport provides a smooth and efficient service for customers flying from Nagpur with Qatar Airways, and thanks to its smaller size, the airport offers travellers a much more intimate and personalised service.
Staff go out of their way to help passengers have a pleasant and relaxed start to their journey, and because the airport only deals with around 4,000 passengers a day, the staff are able to devote more time to each individual, making this a genuinely friendly and welcoming airport.
Transportation and parking
The airport is reasonably well served with public transport, primarily buses and taxis. It is, however, advisable to pre-arrange your taxi through your hotel concierge to ensure that you are paying the correct fare to the airport. Buses run regularly to and from the city centre, but they can become very crowded during peak travel times, which can be inconvenient for those travelling with luggage. A new parking area accommodates 600 cars, and 18 bays provide extra space a little further away. These spaces do fill up very quickly, so it is best to make alternative arrangements for car parking outside the airport and then take public transport to the main terminal.
At the airport
Customers flying from Nagpur with Qatar Airways depart from the new terminal’s Departure area. There are 20 check-in and 20 immigration counters, so there can be delays during peak times. Allow at least two hours before your flight is due to leave to clear check-in and security, as checks can be very thorough and somewhat time-consuming.
Facilities and amenities
As the new terminal has only just been completed, amenities are still a little limited. However, there are some food and drink vendors offering snacks and beverages, and retail outlets are starting to take up residence, offering a range of locally made goods and some accessories. Prayer rooms are available for devotions, and Wi-Fi is available in some areas of the terminal building. Lounges for First and Business-class passengers offer more in the way of luxuries.
