Book flights from Abha to Islamabad with Qatar Airways

Book a flight from Basra to Islamabad with Qatar Airways, and the next time you travel to Pakistan’s capital you can look forward to doing so in real style and comfort.  Choose from a menu of delicious cuisine, and enjoy your meals in the comfort of an ergonomically-designed, spacious cabin, while a dedicated cabin crew looks after all your requirements along the way.

Pakistan’s capital is a beautiful, clean and verdant city, full of great attractions. The Pakistan Monument, next to Lok Virsa Museum, has four petals representing the country’s four provinces. The gorgeous and ultra-modern Shah Faisal Mosque is one of the largest in Asia, and its blend of traditional and futuristic architectural styles is truly breathtaking.

To experience something of the older Islamabad, take a stroll around Rajah Bazaar, which radiates outwards from Fowara Chowk and is always packed with colourful merchandise and people.

Arriving in Islamabad

Pakistan’s capital is a surprisingly green and pleasant city, with plenty of parks and wide, tree-lined boulevards giving it a spacious and open feel.

It is also the cultural, commercial and financial heart of the country, and a thriving metropolis with the emphasis very much on innovation and forward development.

Book a flight to Islamabad with Qatar Airways and you’ll also discover a city built on tradition, with a warm welcome offered to visitors from around the world.

Business travellers will find it a good place for investment, with a strong emphasis on high-tech industries, while leisure travellers with a taste for adventure will find it to be a vibrant, colourful and fascinating city full of sights that make it a destination to remember.

Tourist attractions

Pakistan’s rail infrastructure dates back to the 19th century and was a key component in the rise of the country as an internationally important trading centre.

Today, that heritage is celebrated at the Golra Pakistan Railways Heritage Museum, a real gem of an attraction that’s well worth visiting and home to beautifully restored engines and a museum.

Islamabad’s parks are beautiful and offer a tranquil respite from the noise of the city. For a great panoramic view of the metropolis head for Daman-e-Koh which offers visitors a wonderful vantage point across the valley.

There is also a collection of very good restaurants and other features here, making it an incredibly popular spot for visitors and residents alike. Another excellent open space is Fatima Jinnah Park, considered to be one of the largest parks in South East Asia.

To find out more about the culture of Pakistan take a trip to Saidpur Village in the foothills of the Margallas.

This ancient spot has been carefully restored and now offers a glimpse into the past, with exhibitions and demonstrations of traditional crafts, dancing and music, and authentic Pakistani food.

Travel Considerations

Flights to Islamabad with Qatar Airways land at Imam Islamabad/Rawalpindi Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.

Before you fly to Islamabad please check the visa and passport requirements.

Flying from Basra

Basra International Airport is Iraq’s second-largest transport hub, serving the southern region of the country and the ancient city of Basra. A smart, efficient and safe airport that puts the wellbeing of the customer first, it is also an internationally important transport point connecting Iraq to the rest of the world.

Customers flying from Basra with Qatar Airways will find it to be a pleasant and welcoming departure point, making Basra an excellent starting point for any journey. Parts of the airport are still undergoing reconstruction, but this shouldn’t impact your journey.

Transportation and parking

Although buses do run to and from the airport, it is more practical for customers travelling with large amounts of luggage to pre-arrange a taxi with their hotel concierge service. Parking is very limited, and while there are short-term car park spaces close to the terminal, longer-term parking is very restricted.

At the airport

Customers flying from Basra with Qatar Airways depart from the main Departures hall in the terminal. There are lounge facilities for customers, with a premium lounge available for First and Business-class passengers.

Be aware that security is exceptionally tight at Basra Airport, and checks take some time to complete. Ensure you arrive at least two hours before your flight is due to depart to check-in and clear security checks.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities and amenities in the airport are a little limited. Food and beverage vendors supply passengers with drinks and light snacks, and a few limited retail outlets sell magazines and other in-flight accessories.

A baby-changing area is provided, as are prayer rooms for devotions. Disabled access is good, and staff are happy to help those with mobility issues.
