Choose from a range of award-winning services along the way, and arrive in India thoroughly refreshed and ready to discover the delights of Nagpur.

This major city in India’s Maharashtra state comes after only Mumbai and Pune in terms of size and is full of interest for the visitor. The original Hindu rulers had their headquarters at Gavilgad Fort, dating more than three centuries. The Vidarbha Pandhari Kurdinpur, home to the annual 10-day fair, is another one of the city’s notable attractions. Nagpur has many independent shops, markets and modern malls to explore, and is particularly renowned for the quality of its oranges. Lonar Lake makes a beautiful setting for an outing, and is the third biggest saltwater lake in the world.

Arriving in Nagpur

Famous for its oranges, Nagpur is a key location in the southern Indian state of Maharashtra. While it may be a little off the tourist trail, the city retains an authentic and genuine Indian feel that may have been lost in some of the more popular locations.

Consequently, it’s a vibrant and quintessential ‘Indian’ city that’s full of noise, energy and with a sincere, warm welcome that visitors will appreciate. Fly to Nagpur with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover a real treasure of a city that is surprisingly full of sights and attractions.

In addition to illuminating an authentic vibe, the city also boasts a budding commercial activity in the country, making it an attractive destination for entrepreneurs and businesses who want to take advantage of a growing marketplace in this part of the country.

Tourist attractions

Nagpur is probably best known for being the gateway to two of India’s most important nature reserves - Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve and Pench National Park. There are other reserves in the area too, but the former two are probably the best run and most enticing for adventurous visitors who hope to catch a glimpse of tigers in the wild.

Ask locals what the most important attraction in the city is, and they’ll all point you towards the Zero Mile Stone – a monument that is believed to mark the exact geographical centre of India. Originally erected by the British to measure the distance to all other locations throughout the country, the monument is a splendid display of four horses and a sandstone pillar in the centre.

Other attractions in the city include the Raman Science Center, demonstrating the city’s forward-thinking attitude, and the beautiful Bohra Masjid mosque that maintains its connection with its more spiritual and cultural side. Sports fans will also love the world-class cricket stadium, where matches of India’s most popular game are played regularly.
