Arriving in Paris

Auckland International airport is the largest and busiest commercial and passenger hub in New Zealand, serving over nine million international and seven and a half million domestic passengers every year.

Modern and recently updated, the airport welcomes passengers from all over the world, and because of New Zealand’s location, sees a very high volume of long-haul passengers.

Auckland is a key transport hub in the Pacific region, and passengers flying from Auckland with Qatar Airways will find it to be a friendly, welcoming and very well-organised airport.

Transportation and parking

Auckland International airport is well served by public transport, with regular buses running every 20-30 minutes from the centre of Auckland. Look for Airbus and Maxx services, which also interconnect with other locations including Albany, Botany and Pakuranga. Shuttle buses run between most large hotels and the airport, and your hotel concierge will be able to provide you with timetables.

Taxi ranks are also located to the west of the International terminal building and a taxi journey from the centre of Auckland should take approximately 30 minutes, depending on the time of day and traffic conditions.

Limousines are also available for hire. Parking at the airport is plentiful with both short- and long-term options, undercover parking with high security, and a valet parking service.

Arriving at the airport

Passengers flying from Auckland with Qatar Airways depart from the International Terminal departure area. The international departure area is located on the upper level of the Terminal, and is connected via escalators and elevators. It is a very large building, so it is important to ensure you are in the correct part of the terminal and to leave yourself plenty of time to get to your check-in desk.

Security can be very tight, so allow approximately two hours before your flight is due to board to clear check-in and security checks.

Facilities and amenities

Auckland International airport has excellent facilities, with over 100 shops on-site and plenty of food and drink outlets too. One unique feature of the airport is a shopping collection point, where goods bought elsewhere in New Zealand from participating shops can be sent straight to the airport, to be collected before you fly out.

Food options include premium-quality sushi and Asian cuisine, through to on-the-go snacks and coffee outlets. For business travellers there are two large conference rooms in the international terminal building, and additional meeting rooms throughout the airport. Spacious VIP lounges are available for First and Business Class passengers.

Flying from Chennai

The fourth busiest airport in India, Chennai International Airport is as vibrant and as lively as the city it serves. This rapidly expanding airport currently handles around 13.8million passengers every year, the completion of a new runway will push that number up further.

In the meantime, passengers flying from Chennai with Qatar Airways will find this to be a friendly and welcoming departure point, with good facilities and an equally good reputation for efficiency.

Parking and transportation

Ground transport covers the entire area, which is just as well as the airport is huge and the distances between terminals are considerable. The airport is situated on the Grand Southern Trunk Road (National Highway 45), so drivers have easy access to the airport from the city. It is also served by Tirusulam railway station on the Suburban railway network. Prepaid taxis are available 24/7, and fees are fixed by the government.

A proposed Metro Rail System should connect the airport with other important places in Chennai, once construction is complete. Limited car parking (1000 spaces) at the Anna International terminal is available.

Arriving in Chennai

Passengers flying from Chennai with Qatar Airways depart from the Anna International Terminal. A reserved lounge area is available for business class and first class travellers, while open lounge areas are available for all passengers.

Facilities and amenities

Chennai International Airport has plenty of facilities and amenities to ensure that passengers have everything they need for a comfortable start to their journey. A number of food and drink outlets serve full meals or on-the-go snacks.

Vendors specialise in local delicacies that can be quite spicy, while more westernised snacks and meals are also available. A number of retail outlets sell a wide range of goods including duty free, and Wi-Fi is available throughout most public areas of the terminal.
