Book flights from Moscow to Seychelles with Qatar Airways

Book a flight from Moscow to Seychelles with Qatar Airways and look forward to a relaxing and comfortable flight to these famous islands in the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the extra personal space and legroom offered by specially designed ergonomic seating, and choose delicious dishes from an award-winning menu of exceptional cuisine. With world-class services and a welcoming and professional cabin crew to take care of your every need, your holiday of a lifetime starts in complete comfort with Qatar Airways.

The Seychelles archipelago lies like a chain of pearls in the Indian Ocean, and includes some of the world’s true paradise islands. Its sandy beaches, wildlife reserves and coral reefs are a byword for natural beauty. It is also home to Victoria, the capital, which has the best shops and restaurants in the area. Mahe makes an ideal jumping-off point for exploring the other islands, and is home to the Morne Seychelles National Park, popular with hikers and nature travellers.

Flying from Moscow

Moscow is served by three large airports, and passengers flying from Moscow with Qatar Airways will depart from the largest airport in the country, Domodedovo International Airport. This huge air hub handles approximately 30 million passengers a year, and is an efficient and well-run airport. Current redevelopment of the airport will mean that once completed the entire airport will operate from a single, giant terminal with extremely modern systems including X-ray and enhanced security systems. The current airport offers a good selection of facilities as well as a very efficient service for passengers travelling to destinations across the globe.

Transportation and parking

The city’s Paveletsky Station is connected to the airport via the high-speed, non-stop Aeroexpress train. The journey time from the centre of Moscow to the airport using Aeroexpress is approximately 50 minutes and is the easiest way to travel from the centre of Moscow. A 24-hour minibus shuttle service operates between the Domodedovskaya underground station and the airport and takes approximately 15 minutes, while taxis are plentiful and take around 90 minutes from the centre of the city. It is strongly advised, though, to ensure that you use official taxis, and travellers should ask their hotel concierge to arrange the pick up for them. Spaces for more than 5,000 cars are available for both short and long-term parking, and a VIP parking area is located next to the international terminal.

Facilities and amenities

Meeting rooms are available for business travellers, while public lounges are open to all passengers. Wi-Fi is available for a fee and there are free Internet kiosks throughout the terminal, as well as mobile phone charging points. A children’s area keeps young travellers entertained, and there are also a surprising number of retail outlets selling very good quality goods and accessories. Duty Free outlets are available once you have cleared customs, and the food hall offers a wide selection of light snacks and more substantial meals.

Arriving in Mahé

An island paradise that can be found in most people’s travel wish-lists, Mahé is the largest of the Seychelles islands and a hugely important tourist destination. A warm and welcoming island, Mahé’s largest city is Victoria, the nation’s capital.  The tallest peak on the island stands at just 905m above sea level, and the vast majority of travellers booking a flight to Mahé with Qatar Airways are travelling to this fabulous destination for its famous beaches.

However, the island’s capital of Victoria is also starting to develop as a centre of commerce and attracting a steady stream of investors and entrepreneurs. The island will always primarily be a tourist destination, and with the endless sandy beaches and crystal-clear ocean, it’s easy to see why.

Tourist attractions

The key attraction of Mahé is its fabulous beaches, but there are some sights on the island away from its palm-tree-lined, sandy shores. Head inland and you’ll come to the Morne Seychellois National Park, which covers 20% of the island’s land mass and includes the country’s highest peak, Morne Seychellois. Here you can wander through mangrove forests and dense jungle. Some parts of the forest are only accessible by foot, so it is best to employ the services of an official guide who really knows the area before you venture in too deep.

A great way to familiarise yourself with authentic island life is to take a wander through Victoria’s covered market. It may be small, but it’s full of colour, the smell of spices, and noise, and is a great place to pick up pareos (wrap-around skirts) and comfortable cotton shirts. It’s also the city’s main fish market, and early in the morning you’ll see everything from barracuda to parrot fish on sale.

One of the island’s main exports is tea, and at the SeyTé tea factory and plantation you can see how this popular beverage is grown, harvested, and processed. The plantation also has a gift shop, where you can try different teas.
