Transportation and parking

Tourist attractions

Tehran’s mountain backdrop is echoed by its own towering monuments in the centre of the city, the most famous of which is the Azadi Tower. Built to commemorate the 2,500th anniversary of the Persian Empire, it’s a fusion of Sassanid and Islamic architecture.

 

A museum in the base of the tower gives visitors a potted history of the Empire, as well as the history of the tower itself.

The tomb of: ‘Abdul ‘Adhīm ibn ‘Abdillāh al-Hasanī is a place of pilgrimage for many. The Shah-Abdol-Azim shrine is dedicated to the descendant of Hasan ibn ‘Alī. He was also a companion of Muhammad al-Taqī, and was buried at the shrine in the 9th century.

The glistening collection includes the Darya-e-Noor diamond, the sister diamond to the Kuh-e-Noor diamond, the world's largest uncut ruby and a free standing golden globe made from 34 kilograms of gold and no fewer than 51,366 precious stones.
