Guidelines for Marburg virus

Effective Date: Wednesday, 16 October 2024

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Department of Homeland Security announced that they will redirect US-bound air passengers who have been in Rwanda in the last 21 days will have their travel to the United States rerouted via Chicago (ORD), New York (JFK), or Washington, DC (IAD) where they will undergo public health entry screenings.  

 

These Guidelines apply to impacted passengers holding confirmed 157 tickets:

Original Travel

On/after 17 October 2024 to US, except of ORD/JFK/IAD

Rebooking/Rerouting

  • Accept system re-protection updated in the PNR (if any)
  • Permitted on QR operated flights through IAD/JFK/ORD to original destination for travel within (+/-) 1 day from original into the lowest available RBD in the same cabin
    May include feeder on QR code-share flight numbers operated by AA/AS/B6 (or their subsidiaries/franchise) into the same RBD as original, or if not available, up to next two higher RBDs in the same cabin
  • Permitted on QR operated flights on the same routing as original. Rebooking shall be made into the same RBD as original for travel after 21 days from travel to/via Rwanda.
    The new ticket resulting from reissue must observe ticket validity, including fare restrictions, i.e. seasonality, blackout dates, travel completion dates, flight and RBD application, weekend/weekday travel, min/max stay, stopover, etc.
    May rebook inbound within the same transaction to match the original length of stay.

 

For options 2 and 3:

  • For original offline points (other than US domestic sectors), may include feeder on OAL flights and routing/gateway as permitted according to ticketed fare basis rules. Rebooking shall be made into the RBD permitted according to ticketed Fare Basis.
