Flights to Myanmar with Qatar Airways

Myanmar is a culturally rich and naturally beautiful country which has attracted visitors for centuries. Its golden stupas shimmer over an unchanging landscape of serene rice paddies and timeless jungles, as you’ll discover when you travel to Myanmar with Qatar Airways.

The country has a great deal to offer the interested visitor. Hiking is increasingly popular in the more accessible parts of Myanmar and the landscapes are quite stunning, taking in forests and mountains, lazy rivers, villages built on stilts and numerous old ruins. Discover a world of rice fields, stupas, ruined temples and, up in the mountains, wonderfully scenic walking trails.

Most visitors to Myanmar start out from Yangon, the old capital which used to be known as Rangoon. This is a city full of picturesque old colonial buildings and has most of the best restaurants in the country. In the vicinity of the city lies the Kyaiktiyo Golden Rock, precariously balanced and left by a retreating glacier thousands of years ago. To the southeast are rock caves full of ancient art, and you can also visit old monasteries in the neighbouring mountains.

The most accessible, and most-visited, tourist attractions are to the west of Yangon. They include exquisite beaches such as the one at Ngapali, and a little farther to the north you’ll find fabled Mandalay, which is the traditional starting point for exploring upper Myanmar. The plains of Bagan over to the west of there are famous for their spectacular temple remains.
