Book flights from Shanghai to Algiers with Qatar Airways

Step on board flights from Shanghai to Algiers with Qatar Airways and experience true comfort for the duration of your journey to the beautiful and historic Algerian capital. Enjoy the delights of fine cuisine from a menu of gourmet dishes, served in elegant surroundings by an award-winning cabin crew. Recline and stretch out in specious seating with plenty of legroom and let time pass smoothly by as you browse the latest entertainment options.

The capital of Algeria has fine views in both directions along the coastline and you can immediately appreciate its commanding position, and why it has been important as a trading port for many centuries. The historic core of Algiers is the famous Casbah, a complex of narrow alleyways on a steep hill. At the National Museum of Antiquities you can explore the city’s historic context and admire superb artefacts from across the region. Djemaa el-Kebir is the city’s ancient Grand Mosque overlooking Algiers from its commanding hilltop position.

Flying from Shanghai

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is one of two airports serving the huge metropolis of Shanghai, and one of the busiest international airports in Asia.

Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways will find this to be a modern, efficient and very well organised departure point.

Courteous staff are only too happy to do everything possible to make the start of your journey a pleasant one, and the excellent modern facilities and amenities, and easy access from Shanghai itself make this airport an excellent choice for destinations all over the world.

Transportation and parking

The airport is well served by rail, bus and taxi options, and getting from the city centre to the airport is quick and easy. The Maglev Train is the fastest magnetic levitation train in the world, and connects the airport with metro line 2 at Longyang Station, taking just 8 minutes from point to point. Trains run every 15 minutes from 7am to 9pm.

The station is situated next to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a bridge. Airport bus 1 connects the airport with Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, while other routes run every few minutes to various locations in Shanghai including the Galaxy Hotel and Shanghai South railway station.

Taxis are plentiful but as many drivers only speak Chinese it is best to ask your hotel concierge to book a taxi on your behalf.

Parking consists of a three-floor multi-storey car park with space for over 3,000 vehicles, and a surface car park for short and long-term parking in front of the terminal buildings.

Arriving in Shanghai

Passengers flying from Shanghai with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 2. Check in and security checks are rapid, but it is still wise to allow between one to two hours before your flight is due to board to clear the strict security and customs checks.

It is vital that all paperwork is in order as any issues could delay you considerably.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities are modern, with plenty of retail and food and drink vendors providing an excellent selection of goods and snacks. Food and retail outlets are primarily on the third floor of the terminal.

The lounge areas are spacious and comfortable, and free Wi-Fi is available, along with mobile phone charging stations.

There are several banks, a Bureau de Change and ATMs throughout the terminals, and there is a business centre in the Arrivals terminal, as well as a VIP room.

Arriving in Algiers

Algeria’s capital is a Mediterranean masterpiece of old meets new. With a growing presence on the international trade map, the city is the economic and financial centre of the country, relying heavily on the popular North African tourist trade. The city boasts a range of cultural attractions, including its citadel, locally known as The Casbah, which sits alongside newly built skyscrapers, showing how a one-thousand-year-old city has one foot in its rich past and another in the future.

Fly to Algiers with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover an eclectic, vibrant and energetic city that welcomes visitors from around the world with open arms. Its determination to progress means that Algiers is also a great city for entrepreneurs who want to do business in North Africa, while its cultural heritage is still significant to the entire Mediterranean region.

Tourist Attractions

The Casbah has to be the single most important draw for tourists visiting the city. This 17th century warren of twisting, turning alleyways, streets and marketplaces captures the true spirit of the city at its core. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the place to go if you want to find a bargain or indulge in a spot of haggling. Take the time to wander down the side streets where you’ll find local cafés serving some of the best coffee you’ll ever taste.

Algiers has some historically important mosques that are well worth visiting for their beautiful artwork and sense of serenity in the middle of what can be a very busy, noisy city. The Ketchaoua Mosque was constructed in 1794 by the Dey Baba Hassan, while the El Djedid Mosque is even older, constructed by the Turks in 1660. But it’s the El Kebir Mosque that is the oldest in the Casbah, and a place of peace and contemplation.

The Palais des Raïs is a row of waterfront houses that have been joined together and now house the Centre des Arts et de la Culture. Constructed in the 1750s, the Palais is now one of the most popular exhibition spaces in Algiers, showcasing new and upcoming African artists as well as internationally renowned art collections.
