Tourist attractions

Many of the city’s best known sights can be found in the historic centre within the Rattanakosin district.

Within the palace grounds you’ll also discover Thailand’s holiest temple, Wat Phra Kaew.  Other highlights in Rattanakosin include the large reclining Buddha statue at Wat Pho and the Thai-European fusion of Wat Ratchabophit.

Other popular districts worth exploring during your trip to Bangkok include Siam Square for sheer high-end luxury shopping, and Silom for its bustling entertainment venues.

For a very different perspective on the city and a more relaxing way to see the sights, go for a cruise down the Phraya River.

Flying from Larnaca

Located in eastern Cyprus, Larnaca International Airport is the larger of the island’s two main departure and arrival points. Popular with tourists and business travellers alike, it is located 2.5 miles southwest of the city, making it extremely convenient and reducing transfer times to resorts in the east of the island.

Passengers flying from Larnaca with Qatar Airways will find this relatively small but very friendly airport to be extremely efficient, with all of the facilities you would expect from an international airport combined with a warm Cypriot welcome to make the start of your journey as pleasant as possible.

Transportation and parking

The easiest way to travel from Larnaca to the airport is by taxi. These are available 24 hours a day and the journey time is approximately 15 minutes.

Allow an extra 10-15 minutes during peak travel times, especially at weekends. Shuttle services to and from the airport are provided by Kapnos Airport Shuttle and Limassol Airport Express, with mini-bus transport available, which is particularly useful if you are travelling in a larger party.

The main car park and newly upgraded terminal car park area are located in front of the terminal building. There is capacity for up to 2,450 cars for both short and long-term stays.

Arriving at Larnaca

Passengers flying from Larnaca with Qatar Airways depart from the main terminal. The terminal has recently undergone a series of upgrades and despite its compact size is very free flowing and easy to navigate.

There are now 16 boarding bridges, 67 check in counters, 8 self check-in kiosks and 48 departure gates. Allow at least two hours before your flight is due to depart to check in and to clear security checks.

Recent upgrades mean that the public lounges are well appointed, spacious and comfortable and include a parent and baby changing room. Free Wi-Fi is available in designated areas, and a well stocked retail court sells accessories, Duty free, luxury goods and some local products.
