The capital of Thailand is famous for its night markets, ornate shrines and temples, and its colourful street life. The city is criss-crossed by canals which spread like a web from the River Chao Phraya and carry goods and passengers past the old Grand Palace to all parts of this vast city. Shrines like the Wat Pho Temple and Wat Arun Temple sprout like exotic blooms from the modern city, the former famous for its giant reclining Buddha statue.

Arriving in Bangkok

Book a flight to Bangkok with Qatar Airways and you’ll arrive at one of the world’s most exciting and popular destinations.

Not only a beloved destination by the adventurous travellers and ‘backpackers,’ but it’s also a wonderful destination for the more discerning, luxury travellers.

Whether you’re looking for ancient temples, bustling markets, lively nightlife or absolute luxury, you’ll find it in Bangkok.

Tourist attractions

Many of the city’s best known sights can be found in the historic centre within the Rattanakosin district.

The most spectacular attraction is the Grand Palace, which was once home to the King of Thailand and today offers visitors a rich mixture of history and architectural splendour.

Within the palace grounds you’ll also discover Thailand’s holiest temple, Wat Phra Kaew.  Other highlights in Rattanakosin include the large reclining Buddha statue at Wat Pho and the Thai-European fusion of Wat Ratchabophit.

Other popular districts worth exploring during your trip to Bangkok include Siam Square for sheer high-end luxury shopping, and Silom for its bustling entertainment venues.

For a very different perspective on the city and a more relaxing way to see the sights, go for a cruise down the Phraya River.

Travel considerations

Flights to Bangkok with Qatar Airways land at Suvarnabhumi Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.

Before you fly to Bangkok please check the visa and passport requirements.

Flying from Yerevan

Passengers flying from Yerevan with Qatar Airways will depart from the rapidly expanding Zvartnots International Airport, which is an excellent starting point for any journey. Located just under 12 kilometres from the centre of Yerevan, it sits at the crossroads between two continents.

Passengers will find it to be incredibly efficient and well run, staffed by friendly and welcoming professionals who go that extra mile to make the start of your trip as pleasant as possible.

Transportation and parking

The quickest and easiest way to travel from the centre of Yerevan to the airport is by taxi. These are plentiful, very affordable and can be easily arranged by your hotel reception or concierge service. Buses also run to the airport.

All of the major car hire services have offices in and around Yerevan, so car hire is a popular alternative. However, if you are arriving at the airport by car then bear in mind that parking is somewhat limited, with short-term provision for up to 600 vehicles.

The spaces fill up very quickly, so it may be advisable to make alternative arrangements for your vehicle.

At the airport

Passengers flying from Yerevan with Qatar Airways will depart from the International Departures area in Terminal 2. There are 42 check-in booths and eight gates, three of which are accessed by bus while the remaining five are reached by jetways.

Security checks are rigorous as with all airports, so allow around one and a half hours before your flight is due to depart to check-in and clear security checks.

Facilities and amenities

Terminal 2 has excellent facilities, including a comfortable lounge in front of the glazed façade that offers visitors a panoramic view over the tarmac and beyond to Mount Ararat. The terminal has cafés and food outlets serving local and international cuisine, as well as fast food outlets for snacks.

There is a business lounge on the 4th floor, providing first class and business class travellers with all the amenities they need, including Wi-Fi.
