Tourist attractions

At 9pm in the evening, Barcelona has a unique landmark that enchants those who see it – the musical fountains of in Plaça d'Espanya. The Barri Gòtic or Gothic Quarter is the medieval heart of the city, but some structures date even further back to the Roman settlement of Catalonia.

A slightly more modern addition to the city’s landscape is the Mies van der Rohe's Barcelona Pavilion. Originally built in 1929 but torn down less than a year later, the reconstructed version built in 1986 demonstrates how important to the history of modern architecture the original was.

Barcelona is also packed with World Heritage sites, including the striking Park Güell, the extraordinary Casa Batlló (one of Antoni Gaudi’s architectural masterpieces) and the truly stunning Palau de la Música Catalana, where you can hear some of Barcelona’s finest musicians perform. There is also a myriad of galleries to explore, as well as plenty of open spaces to relax in.
