Book flights from Doha to Cebu with Qatar Airways

Arriving in Cebu

Situated on the Filipino island of Mactan, just off the main island of Cebu, Cebu is a busy little city that offers visitors a genuinely warm welcome. Colonised by the Spanish in the 16th century, its position in the heart of the Pacific islands made it an important trading point for the spice trade and the riches coming from countries such as China and Japan.

Today, it’s a thriving city that is also the home of the Philippines’ main air hub, Mactan-Cebu International Airport.

Book a flight to Cebu with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover a unique city that has a true island feel to it. From scuba diving to exploring the city’s museums and monuments, there is plenty to see and do – but thanks to that laid-back attitude you can explore at a pace that suits you.

Tourist attractions

The major attraction in the city is the shrine of Cebu. This 15th century island chief fought against the Portuguese invader Ferdinand Magellan and his army in 1521. The 20-metre bronze statue is a powerful symbol for Filipino people and is greatly revered today.

Many of the island’s attractions are actually underneath the water, with some of the best dive sites in the region located around the island of Mactan.

You don’t need to be an accomplished diver to explore the underwater beauty of Talima, Tinggo, and the stunning marine sanctuary of Hilutungan, as there are plenty of schools catering for novice divers and those who simply prefer to snorkel.

If you want to keep your feet on dry land then you can go island hoping, or experience traditional fire dancing displays at the Jungle Cultural Entertainment Center.

Travel considerations

Flights to Cebu with Qatar Airways land at Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.
