One of the Middle East’s most attractive cities, Doha sits tranquilly on the banks of the Arabian Gulf. The city’s business district is known for its magnificent high-rise buildings and glittering skyscrapers, affording it a unique skyline. The Corniche promenade is a popular spot for a night stroll, leading all the way to the Museum of Islamic Art, one of the city’s iconic landmarks and home to artefacts from the Muslim World. The nearby Souq Waqif is full of tradition, housing premium dining outlets sitting alongside spice and souvenir stalls.

Flying from Osaka

Osaka Kansai International Airport is one of two air hubs serving the huge city of Osaka, but is the only one offering international flight availability.

Passengers flying from Osaka with Qatar Airways should note that the closer Osaka International Airport only provides a domestic service, so it is important to arrive at the correct airport to catch your flight.

Colloquially known as Kankū in Japanese, this is one of Japan’s busiest air travel centres, and as you would expect is exceptionally well run, clean and efficient. Flights from Osaka are a pleasure, and the highly professional staff are attentive and determined to provide you with a memorable and stress-free start to your journey.

Transportation and parking

Japan is renowned for its incredible transport infrastructure, and provision to and from the airport is exceptional. You can choose from a selection of rail, bus, shuttle and even ferry options, with most journeys taking no more than an hour from the centre of the city.

The West Japan Railway Company and Nankai Railways all offer either direct or connecting services to the airport, while buses run from all the major hotels in Osaka directly to the terminals.

Taxis are plentiful and take around 50 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

Parking is good with two multi-storey car parks at Terminal 1, as well as three additional open air car parks, one opposite Terminal 2. All car parks offer both short and long-term stays.

Arriving in Osaka

Passengers flying from Osaka with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 1. It is important to check the boards on arrival to determine whether you should check-in at the North or South end of the building. Check at any of the information centres located on the first, second and fourth floors.

Terminal 1 is the longest passenger terminal in the world (1.1miles end to end), but fortunately a people mover system called the Wing Shuttle makes getting around much easier.

Facilities and amenities

Facilities at the airport are exceptionally good. There are plenty of ATMs and a full size bank offering a wide range of financial services is on the second floor in T1.

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the airport, and there are @Stations offering 24-hour internet access too, as well as mobile phone hire. Food and drink is plentiful, ranging from traditional Japanese dishes such as sushi and sashimi, through to the usual fast food outlets and international cuisine.

A large retail hall provides passengers with everything from clothes, luxury goods and electronics through to Duty Free and travel essentials.

A business centre in Terminal 1 has meeting rooms, secretarial services and telephone, fax and internet provision. Osaka airport is fully accessible, which includes 60 disabled car parking spaces close to the terminal.

Arriving in Doha

Book a flight to Doha with Qatar Airways and you’ll be flying into the home of our airline, and the home of international travel.

This remarkable city is also developing at an incredible pace, becoming one of the fastest-growing cities in the Gulf region.

Home to the Educational City, museums, cultural attractions and much more, Doha is a surprising destination that is full of interesting sights and activities.

Dominated by its crescent-shaped bay, Doha was originally a collection of fishing and pearl-diving villages. Today, its skyline rivals that of any international destination worldwide. A flight to Doha with Qatar Airways gives you a chance to discover this fascinating city for yourself.

Tourist attractions

Doha has a wonderful selection of museums, including the Msheireb Enrichment Centre. This is a barge docked at the Doha Corniche, close to one of the city's oldest landmarks, the Sheraton Hotel. It holds exhibits that chart the country’s historic background as well as its continuing plans for the future.

The Mathaf Arab Museum of Modern Art has recently opened and is home to a collection of modern art from across the Arab world.

The Al Koot Fort was built in 1880, and is a popular photographic stop for tourists visiting Souq Waqif – a charming traditional market and the social heart of the city.  The Clock Tower is next to the Grand Mosque, and because of its hilltop position it offers panoramic views of Doha and the Corniche.

Doha Heritage Village is located along the Corniche in Al Rumeilia Park, and is based on a traditional Qatari village.

Travel considerations

Flights to Doha with Qatar Airways land at Doha International Airport. Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure.
