Book flights from Barcelona to Guangzhou with Qatar Airways

Flying from Barcelona

Spain’s second largest airport serves the culturally important city of Barcelona, Catalonia’s capital and a location that blends a history dating back to Roman times with an ultra-modern facet that’s forward looking and progressive.

Passengers flying from Barcelona with Qatar Airways will experience an efficient and friendly airport housed in a contemporary space that is quintessentially Catalonian in nature.

Excellent retail and dining facilities complete an outstanding passenger experience from start to finish.

Parking and transportation

The RENFE R2 suburban train connects the city centre to Barcelona Airport, with a journey time of approximately 30 minutes. The airport railway station is located at Terminal 1, making it convenient for Qatar Airways passengers.

The Aerobus travels from the centre of Barcelona to the airport direct, while local AMB buses also serve both terminals. Taxis are plentiful. There are plenty of car parks available for passengers, with spaces for up to 24,000 cars for T1 passengers alone, including a VIP parking area and both short and long-term options close to the terminals.

Arriving at Barcelona Airport

Passengers flying from Barcelona with Qatar Airways depart from Terminal 1. This is the fifth largest terminal in the world, with 258 check-in counters, 60 jetways and plenty of space in the lounges and waiting areas.

Because of the sheer size of the terminal it is advisable to arrive at least two hours before your flight is due to depart, and to check the information boards on arrival.

Facilities and amenities

Amenities at the airport are excellent, with a good selection of retail outlets and restaurants, as well as good business facilities. Paid-for Wi-Fi hotspots are dotted around the public areas, with the first 15 minutes of use free.

Disabled passengers are well catered for, with full access to all areas of the terminal, including disabled parking. For food lovers, there is a choice of excellent restaurants serving international cuisine, or indulge in a little local flavour at one of the many tapas vendors.

Discover what it means to travel in real luxury, with flights from Barcelona to Guangzhou with Qatar Airways offering exceptionally high standards, a warm welcome onboard, and a range of award-winning services. These are designed to make the hours simply fly by, with delicious cuisine served in spacious seating, and attentive cabin crews catering for all your in-flight needs. Enjoy the very best in long-haul travel on your flight to old Canton with Qatar Airways.

Guangzhou is China’s bustling trade and transport hub. It is also the main gateway into China for foreign visitors, but the city has many great attractions and interests in its own right. The hectic life of a modern commercial metropolis combines with gorgeous mountainous landscapes to create a unique experience here, very different from the rest of the country. The city has some of China’s oldest temples, an imperial tomb and colonial villas, but there are also shopping malls and upmarket restaurants as well as numerous other facilities to enjoy on your visit.

Arriving in Guangzhou

Formerly known as Canton, Guangzhou is the third largest city in China and a major cultural and commercial centre for this growing economy. For over two millennia this hugely important city has been at the centre of trading in the region, and today is just as important on the global stage.

Book a flight to Guangzhou with Qatar Airways and you’ll discover a forward-focused city that still maintains its traditional values of courtesy, hard work and honour.

Surrounded by magnificent mountain ranges, its relatively remote location means that this remarkable city has developed a unique sense of identity and a very individual character. Its values are perhaps a little less conservative than other parts of China, and even its cuisine is distinctive, making it a fascinating destination for both business and leisure travellers.

Tourist attractions

One of the main landmarks in the city is Xiguan Residence, a perfectly preserved example of traditional Cantonese architectures from the late Qing Dynasty, and one home to the upper class residents of the city.

For a moment’s peace and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping area, rest a while in the stunning Yuexiu Park, the largest urban park in China with acres of beautifully manicured borders and wide open spaces.

In fact, this huge city is full of gardens and parks, including Yuntai Garden, situated at the base of Cloud Mountain and famous for its selection of rare plants and flowers.

The city is full of museums (note that most museums are closed on Mondays). One of the most important archaeological finds in China is the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King, with its thousands of jade tiles, while at the foot of Bayiun Mountain is the Guangzhou Sculpture Park, which displays work by some of the region’s best sculptors.

Travel considerations

Flights to Guangzhou with Qatar Airways land at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, second only to Hong Kong as an air transport hub for the region.

Visa restrictions for entry into the country will depend on your country of origin, length of stay and whether your trip is for business or pleasure. Before you fly to Guangzhou please check the visa and passport requirements.
