Arriving in Maldives
Arriving in Hulhulé after a flight to the Maldives with Qatar Airways, the first thing that will strike you is that this genuinely is a tropical island paradise.
Largely unknown among tourists until the 1970s, the Maldives are today one of the top luxury destinations in the world. Crystal clear oceans, white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees – the Maldives are the epitome of a tropical holiday destination.
The collection of over 1,100 coral islands means that the most common method of transport is by boat or seaplane. Island hopping is a great way to experience the delights above water.
Under the waves there is a second paradise waiting to be explored, and the Maldives offers some of the best diving and snorkelling in the world.
Tourist attractions
The Maldives is different to many destinations in that there are relatively few attractions to visit on land. The main attractions of the islands are natural, rather than man-made, so to discover the very best of the islands’ riches you will need to don a swimsuit and head out with one of the many diving parties to explore the coral reefs.
Filled with brilliantly coloured fish and a wealth of natural wonders, the waters of the Maldives offer a rich tapestry of aquatic colour and beauty.
If you’re not a swimmer or prefer to stay on dry land then a visit to the nation’s capital island of Malé for some casual shopping and to see the ‘real’ Maldives away from the custom-made resorts of the islands.

Flights to the Maldives with Qatar Airways land at Malé International Airport. Flying from Copenhagen
Formerly known as Kastrup Airport, Copenhagen Airport is the largest in Scandinavia and is close to Copenhagen city centre. Because of its importance as the main air hub in Scandinavia, facilities and amenities at the airport are excellent, and passengers flying from Copenhagen with Qatar Airways will discover an efficient, friendly and premium quality service that is focused primarily on the passenger experience.
Transportation and parking
There are several bus services to and from the centre of the city to the airport. There are also free terminal shuttles, which run frequently between the terminals. The Metro station is located at the end of Terminal 3 and runs 4-6 minute intervals during the day and evening hours and every 15-20 minutes during the night. The travel time from Nørreport Station in central Copenhagen to the airport is 15 minutes. Taxis in Copenhagen are plentiful and relatively cheap – you can ask your hotel concierge to arrange either taxis or a limousine service to the airport, which is a better option if you have a lot of luggage. There are more than 10,000 car parking spaces for short, medium and long-term stays.
Facilities and amenities
An extensive business centre with 29 meeting rooms is available in Terminal 3, while Terminal 2 (International flights) offers a good selection of facilities too. Wi-Fi is available for a fee, and there are Internet kiosks throughout Terminal 2. Food and drinks vendors are plentiful, serving everything from some Danish and Scandinavian specialities through to international cuisine. There’s a play area for children and, unusually, a special lounge area for teenagers too.
